POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Meals on Wheels Program Assistant
Reports to: Meals on Wheels Program Manager
Marion-Polk Food Share is a regional food bank and part of the Oregon Food Bank Network
that serves the residents of Marion and Polk Counties, a region covering 1,938 square miles
with a population of 394,865 persons.
The mission of Marion-Polk Food Share is “Leading the fight to end hunger in Marion and Polk
Counties, because no one should be hungry.”
Summary of role – MOW Program Assistant
Program Assistant will conduct general office procedures in the MPFS Meals on Wheels office.
Duties include; reception, filing, support with accounts receivable, client in-take, enrollment,
retention, coordinating the Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers and other projects as assigned.

Greet & assist visitors to the office.
Conduct daily office reception duties, including answering phones, taking messages
and assisting walk-ins.
Assist with client services, such as in-take, enrollment, retention, outreach and
volunteer contacts.
Provide volunteer support services, such as driver coordinating, scheduling and finding
substitutes.
Assist with accounts receivable and other bookkeeping functions.
Communicate with social service agencies and professionals concerning client welfare.
Make referrals to Protective Services when neglect, exploitation, and/or abuse of a
senior or disabled person is suspected.
Prepare program reports and daily correspondence as needed.
Effectively utilize Microsoft Access and other Meals on Wheels software to prepare
accurate and up to date daily route sheets.
Drive Meals on Wheels routes upon last minute driver cancellations or when substitute
drivers cannot be secured.

The ability to prioritize and balance conflicting demands.
Vehicle in good working condition, a valid Oregon driver’s license and proof of auto
insurance.
Basic skills and experience with Microsoft software products (Word, Excel, Access,
Power Point).
Ability to understand and interpret Marion Polk Food Share Meals on Wheels policies
and apply them when necessary.
A commitment to the mission of Marion-Polk Food Share and serving older adults and
people with disabilities in need.
Effective team building and conflict resolution skills.
Willing to work both independently and as an effective team member.
Preferred education: Associates degree in business administration or a minimum of 2
years’ experience in business administration, volunteer management, and/or social
services. Preference will be given to those whose experience includes similar position
working with seniors/disabled persons and/or within the nonprofit sector.

TITLE:
Work will mainly be conducted in an office environment, but will also require operating
a motor vehicle making regular trips to sub-distribution sites for driver coordination,
and driving Meals on Wheels routes in Salem.
Work may be performed seated or standing for prolonged periods of time. Regular use
of a computer and common office equipment. Some light lifting and bending required.
