Newsletter Edition 09 T e o r m t 2 e W e lc o m 16th April 2015 As the clock ticked over to 8:30am on Monday the school was filled again with the happy noises of children playing and catching up, a different atmosphere to the workmen who were busy around the school over the holiday break. Much work was completed over the break and we are very grateful for: • Refurbished secondary boys bathrooms • Freshly painted secondary girls bathrooms • Movement of the Grade 4/5 classroom and library • Several classrooms in the secondary school received new coats of paint and carpet • New desks, chairs and split system air-conditioners in many of the secondary classrooms. We would like to welcome back all our returning students, families and teachers and also our new students to Term 2. We pray that this term is filled with blessings and we want to especially pray that our new students will be made to feel welcome at Nunawading Christian College. Relocation of Demountable Over the term break we relocated the demountable classroom from the railway line site to our new location near the administration building. The space occupied by the demountable will be used for our junior school adventure playground. Building Fund Donations As we have communicated in the past, Nunawading Christian College has engaged an architect to outline a ten year master plan to fully refurbish the school facilities. classrooms. Specifically, this year we plan to replace the old windows in the upper level of these classrooms as well as an upgrade to the secondary school library. Stage 1 of this plan has seen the inclusion of the full sized school oval and tennis courts to our facilities, the new parent car park and the upgrade to the secondary school quadrangle. Stage 2 was the wonderful refurbishment of the primary school classrooms that our students and teachers are currently enjoying. The school administration has been hard at work obtaining funding to complete these works. However, we would benefit greatly from financial assistance from our families to supplement the funding we have received and therefore push these plans forward. If any of our families would like to make a donation toward our building works it would be gratefully appreciated. All donations to the building fund are tax deductible and a tax receipt will be issued. Thank you. We are ready to move on to the next stage of this plan which includes further refurbishment to the existing secondary Accommodation needed A school family is interested in finding a 2 bedroom unit to rent within a 5 km radius of the school.
