The Nobel Peace Laureate Project are still accepting nominations for the 2014-15 “Peace Educator of the Year” Jerry Ragan President Award Winner notification: May 1, 2015 The Nobel Peace Laureate Project Peace Educator of the Year award began in 2009. Middle school teacher Dr. Lura Pierce, Bethel School District, was honored for her work with her 6th grade “Visions of Peace” curriculum. Linda Smart, Monroe Middle School, District 4J, won for her work with PeaceJam, Jose Alonso, Sheldon High School District 4J, won for his work with high school students in conflict resolution and multicultural education and Clair Wiles, North Eugene High School and Navy Veteran, for her work with her history 9th grade students teaching them about how non-violent resistance movements have been incredibly successful over time.
