INTER- SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL 2015
The Interschool Swimming Carnival was held on
Tuesday 31st March at Claremont Pool. North Beach
competed against West Leederville and Marmion
Primary Schools in what was a terrific morning of
spirited competition. North Beach again won the
competition and our students featured strongly in the
individual awards. With no year seven events, it was
decided that there would be a medley relay in order to
keep the programme full. This appears to be a popular
addition to the carnival. The results are listed below.
Final Result:
1st North Beach with 253 points
2nd Marmion with 229 points
3rd West Leederville with 206 points

Issue 5
April 2, 2015
On Tuesday evening of last week, the P&C met to evaluate, discuss and hopefully
endorse items on the school resourcing “wish list”.
The wish list was compiled after consultation with staff. It is the result of careful
consideration of the student’s and school needs and a realistic evaluation of the P&C’s
capacity to improve the school learning environment and opportunities. The “Standing
Requests” (items 1 & 2) have been maintained over many years and are the only “given”
items.
2015 WISH LIST Items
1.
To help ease the whole school computer / ICT lease for 2015, the P&C has
previously agreed to an annual commitment of $5000.

to cover school photocopying costs, pay for all P&C printing requirements and
bank charges for the use of EFTPOS. $3300

9.
10.
Garden Project. $1500 has been provided to keep our garden project moving forward.
The Pre-primary has been working on their new interactive play space. $2500 has been given to move that
project towards completion.
11. The glare from the windows in rooms 1-5 makes our interactive whiteboards less effective than they could be.
$4000 has been given for blinds to help with this problem.
This Totalled an incredible $41 000
The staff is, once again, quite overwhelmed by the generosity of our P&C , whose fundraising efforts far exceed many
“like schools”. As a result our P&C greatly improves both the learning environment and learning opportunities for all
our students.
DISCO—A GREAT NIGHT
Last night was the first Disco of the year. The children, all dressed in black and white, had a ball dancing and playing
those games they all love. Once again thanks go to our dedicated staff who volunteer their time to supervise the
evening, to Miss Rawson and the Friendship Leadership Group who organised the event and of course to our great
friends at the North Beach Baptist Church who again gave us the run of their wonderful facilities. We raised more than
$1200 which has gone to the purchase of some new Phys Ed and sporting equipment.
NEWS FROM THE FRENCH ROOM
Chers Parents/Dear Parents,
Welcome to the last week of Term One.
We have been covering Les Paques/Easter for the last two weeks.
A pop-up book was read to all students, a listening/rhyming word activity done with Years
One and Two and a great site “Paques en France” was looked at. This site covered
symbols of Easter, displays of Easter eggs in France, ingredients of Easter eggs and what is
in the Easter baskets. All this was in French and required translation skills appropriate to
Students from Room Two
their year level.
ready for their game of

FREE DRESS DAY
Today North Beach students held a free dress to raise money to help the people
from Vanuatu whose homes were destroyed in the cyclone. Students dressed up
in one colour and brought a gold donation to raise money for the them. Vanuatu
is just off the cost of Fiji. Many homes and buildings were destroyed and it will
take years to repair the damage done. With our donations it might help them
just that little bit more so that they may get back on track, living the way they
used to. Our school raised $314.90 so thank you very much, everyone.
Vanuatu needs all the help they can get.

Desperately seeking netball umpires!
The NBPS Interschool A and B netball teams are seeking volunteers to umpire our games in
term 2. Games are held on Friday afternoons; they commence at 1.30pm and finish at 2.30pm.
There will be seven interschool games next term (held in weeks 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10). If you
are able to assist or have relatives/friends willing to help out then please let Miss Rawson (in
room 3) know or phone the school. Thank you very much
GIRLS FOOTY!
A "Girls only" footy competition will take place next term on Friday afternoons. It will only be a short season - 6
Fridays in all. Games and training will be held at Charles Riley Reserve (or on our school oval if required) and these
sessions will happen after school. Last year our team was asked to play on Subi oval before a Dockers game and
the girls had a great experience being involved in this. We will also be looking for a footy coach, so parents, you
can be involved too!
For more details, see Mrs Hoffman.
