MAYOR’S MESSAGE
City Clean Up! I spend a lot of time in different areas and neighborhoods of our beautiful city. I am
always impressed by those homes and yards—whether large or small—that are neat and orderly and
which add to their neighborhood. To help keep our city and neighborhoods clean, we have organized
a “City Pride Spring Clean Up” to take place May 16th-23rd. During this week we will be staging large
dumpsters at the Green Waste Facility (2750 N. Mountain Rd.) to receive large trash items, old
appliances, computers and electronics, yard waste items, used tires, large recycle items (big boxes,
plastic swing sets), etc. These items will be accepted for free from North Ogden residents. We are
hoping that citizens will take this opportunity to clean up homes, yards, neighborhoods, and our city
in general. If we each take pride in our neighborhoods, we can make a difference in how our city
looks and feels. We encourage church and civic groups to get involved in service projects during this
event. These could be cleaning up a hillside area above our city, knocking down weeds on an
abandoned building lot, or finding an elderly neighbor who needs a little extra help taking down some
tree limbs or pulling out weeds. Please see the enclosed flyer for more information on this
event, including hours of operation. This City Pride Clean Up event will be followed by more
aggressive code enforcement of junk and weed ordinances, so this presents a good opportunity for all
of us to clean up and to show our city pride.

YOUR HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED
While using our Green Waste Facility please try to assist us by picking up those items left behind by others that
don’t belong in the compost area. Items that are not compost materials can be thrown into the dumpster located in
the compost area. If everyone will pick up one mislaid item the problem would be resolved.
CHANNEL / CANAL CLEANING
If you live near a channel or canal the City is asking that you take a moment to inspect the area to assure there is
no debris that may cause a blockage near your property or downstream. If you clean out debris from the canals,
please bag it up and call the City to have it picked up.
DETENTION PONDS
We are fortunate to live in a city with its beautiful surroundings and spectacular views. With those mountains and
views come hillsides, slopes, and steep grades, which require detention ponds to slow the flow of water, from
running out of the city too fast. There are over 30 detention ponds throughout the city and chances are that you
and keep it from running too quickly. We are asking for your consideration and cooperation in maintaining those
ponds by not using them for your refuse (limbs, grass, animal waste, etc.). Your refuse causes added work for the
2-person maintenance team and limits the proper flow of water in the ponds. Thank you.

Service and Fun--All in One! The City Youth Council (CYC) of North Ogden is a great opportunity to
participate in an organization that doesn’t just help the community—it helps the participants too! The council is
available to youth in grades 9 – 12 who live in North Ogden. Involvement in CYC looks great on resumes and
scholarships, as the high school seniors on the council will tell you. While in CYC, the youth get to participate in city
events, such as Cherry Days, the Santa House, and the annual Easter Egg Hunt. They also get to attend leadership
retreats, meet with other youth their age, and learn leadership skills for life. City Youth Council is a fantastic chance
for kids to make lots of new friends, and serve the community while having a ton of fun!
We are currently looking for new members for the upcoming 2015-16 summer and school year. If you know
someone interested, please share this information with them. Applications are available at the City Offices, 505 E.

POLICE
515 E 2600 N | 801-782-7219
We would like to remind residents of a few crime reporting tips:
-
Report incidents to the police immediately upon discovering them. The sooner an incident is reported,
the more likely the evidence can be preserved, and that the suspects will still be in the area.
- If possible, do not touch items that the suspects may have touched. Handling these items can
contaminate any fingerprint evidence.
- The more information you can provide about the suspects or suspect vehicles, the more likely it is that
the suspects will be located.
- If you think a crime is being committed, but are uncertain, report it. Observant residents reporting
suspicious activity in their neighborhoods can help prevent crime from happening in the first place, or
can lead to a quick resolution if a crime was committed.
To report a crime, please call the following numbers: Emergency Dispatch – 911 ~ Police/Animal Control NonEmergency Dispatch – 801-629-8221
