April 7, 2015 Dear SkillsUSA Members, Thank you for choosing to serve in the Courtesy Corp for the upcoming Nevada SkillsUSA State Conference that will take place in Reno from April 14th – 17th. The Courtesy Corp plays an important role in success of the state conference and we’re glad to have you on the team! The job of Courtesy Corp is to support competitors, advisors, contest chairs and judges, as well as the general operation of the conference. It is important that you understand the responsibilities and expectations associated with Courtesy Corp so that you can have the best experience possible, as well as provide the best support possible for the State Conference. Required Meetings In order to ensure common understanding regarding the responsibilities and expectations, there will be several training meetings before and during the conference that you are required to attend. At these meetings, we will review appropriate behavior, safety, conference assignments, participation in the Conference Social, and transportation arrangements. Please make note of the following dates, times and locations that these meetings will be held. Monday, April 13 Tuesday, April 14 Wednesday, April 15 Friday, April 16 3:00 – 4:00 pm Academy of Arts, Careers & Technology (AACT) 5:30 – 6:15 pm Circus Circus Mandalay Rooms 4:00 – 4:30 pm Circus Circus Mandalay Rooms 8:00 – 8:30 am Reno Ballroom Reno students ONLY ALL students ALL students ALL students Required Events Prior to the Conference (Reno Students Only) For students in the Reno area, your role as a SkillsUSA Courtesy Corp member begins prior to the conference. Please plan to attend these additional required events: Work Session Monday, 4/13 4:00 – 7:00 pm Conference Welcome Tuesday, 4/14 3:30 – 5:30 pm AACT Circus Circus *conference attire required Nevada SkillsUSA Official Dress for Courtesy Corp Courtesy Corp members should wear the following: For men: clean black/ dark blue jeans, worn at the waist, no holes; tennis shoes or work boots For women: clean black/dark blue jeans, no holes; absolutely no leggings or yoga pants; tennis shoes Courtesy Corp members will be given a yellow t-‐shirt which identifies them as Courtesy Corp members so that they are clearly visible to those needing assistance. Official dress is required throughout the conference. Students who are not in appropriate attire will be asked to change immediately. Local students without appropriate clothing may be asked to return to school. Meals Courtesy Corp students will follow the same guidelines for meals that apply to all conference participants. This means that if they are assigned to a more remote location where lunch is provided (such as TMCC Edison), they will eat along with the competitors. In other locations, food is available for purchase. Community Service Hours After 3 pm each day, Courtesy Corp hours may be counted as community service for the purpose of meeting school requirements. It is the responsibility of each students to track their hours and present them to a Courtesy Corp Supervisor on Friday, 4/17, for verification and signature. Please make arrangements to be dropped off and picked up in a timely fashion. A tentative drop off and pick up schedule is below. This will be updated to reflect exact pick up locations. A Courtesy Corp Supervisor will require a sign out to a responsible party each day.
