ABOUT THE SHOW
Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim • Book by James Lapine
Originally directed on Broadway by James Lapine • Orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick
Into the Woods brings together favorite storybook characters and retells their timeless tales with a new,
musical twist. There’s Cinderella and her wicked stepmother and stepsisters, Jack and the Giant (of the
famous beanstalk), Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Rapunzel, a witch, two princes, a baker and his
wife – and their stories all intertwine in mysterious, magical ways in the haunted woods. This Tony Awardwinning modern classic is one of Stephen Sondheim’s most popular works, adapted into a hit film version
last year. Full of dark comedy and enchanting songs, it’s an epic fairytale about wishes and curses, family,
and the choices we make.
