Dear Parishioners and Friends:
It is with great sorrow that I write to you this week.
As you all know by now our beloved Pastor Emeritus, Msgr.
Ignace Sadek went to rest in the Lord this past Tuesday. May
he rest in Peace.
Msgr. was born on December 4, 1930 and was a
ordained a Priest on April 15, 1956. Before ordination he
received degrees in Philosophy, Theology and French
Literature and Physics and was fluent in five languages. From
1956 until 1988, he taught various subjects at three seminaries
and three colleges in Lebanon and served as a pastor in a
parish.
In 1988 he came to the United States and became
Pastor of Saint Anthony Maronite Church in Wilkes-Bare, PA,
where many of his relatives reside from his home town of
Zain, Batroun, Lebanon. In 1997 he was named as Rector of
Our Lady of Lebanon Cathedral in Brooklyn by His
Excellency Stephen Hector Doueihi.
In June of 2007 Msgr. retired from active duty and
went to live in Washington, D.C. While in residence at the
Seminary, Msgr. Sadek assisted Msgr. Begianni with some of
the duties at the Seminary especially in teaching Syriac to the
seminarians as well as celebrating the Divine Liturgy,
As the saying goes: "You cannot keep a good man
down"! At the request of both Bishop Gregory and Bishop
Robert, Msgr. travelled to various parishes in both Eparchies
and assisted the clergy when needed. He served in Flint,
Michigan as well as in Dayton, Ohio, where Msgr. went to
sleep in the Lord.
Wherever he went and served he left an everlasting
impression. He will be missed but never forgotten.
As your Pastor, I send my deepest sympathies to each
of you at the loss of your Pastor and friend. May his memory
be Eternal!

Parish Festival
Our Parish Festival is just around the corner. We
will have a very important meeting today following the
Divine Liturgy. I am especially concerned about the early
morning set up and time start. Last year our late start hurt
us in many ways. Therefore, we need as many men of the
parish as possible.
Sponsorships
We are looking for help in bringing in donations
from the outside in the form of sponsorships for the Festival.
We are not looking for individuals from the parish but
rather outside businesses. If you can help us in this matter
we would greatly appreciate it.
Dabke Troupe
Denise Abou Chrouch is working on the Dabke
Troupe for the Festival. She definitely has a group of the
children and a group from the teenage girls. If there are any
young adult men and women interested please see Denise
after the Divine Liturgy at the Coffee Hour.
Also, if anyone has the time and the talent to help
us in making costumes for the Dance Troupe or if you know
where we may purchase them inexpensively please let us
know.
Heritage Program
Congratulations to the First Communion Class.
Yesterday they encountered the love and mercy of Almighty
God in the Mystery of Reconciliation. Keep praying for our
children.
