Operation Scarlet’s
2015 Rescue Dog of the Year
Gracie Frances- I arrived at OS in 2003 , a puppy that was already homeless, I was adopted twice
and returned both times. The third time was a charm when an OS volunteer named Carol adopted me. We
spent five years together until her passing in 2014. Lady Luck smiled upon me one more time when she
recently found me a new home. Through everything, I have never lost my ability to love and trust.
Betty Boop- I was found as a stray in North Carolina. I was having a very hard time getting by on
my own and I was in deplorable condition when I was taken to a shelter. The nice people at Operation
Scarlet rescued me in 2014 and gave me the care that I needed, which included the removal of my left
eye. I have recently been chosen and can't wait to settle down in a forever home of my own.
Abby – in 2007 when Op Scarlet rescued me I was taken to a shelter by my owner when I was just 4
months old My legs were so badly bowed that I could not stand up and I had to wear casts on my legs for
about two months. At the end of two months my legs were nice and straight. It was like a miracle!!!
I now have a wonderful family who gives me lots of love and good care.
Paris- I was wondering the streets in Ohio before being rescued by Operation Scarlet. During my
medical exam they found that I had some growths in my ears. I needed to have surgery to remove my ear
canals to make me well again. I was so scared, but everyone told me it would be okay. I am more than
okay now, I have found my forever home.
Happy Jack-.I was rescued by Op Scarlet in 2011. I had a bad rear leg that needed to be
amputated, I also was Lyme positive and had severe entropion. I had been a stray and had nowhere to
go. It is not fun being a stray. I got hungry and lonely. The shelter named me Happy Jack because I
am always happy. I am really happy now because I found my “forever home”.
McLovin Found abandoned, tied to a fence and enduring horrific injuries to his face, this
sweet boy held on to the belief that he would one day find a loving forever home . Rescued by
Operation Scarlet in late 2014, he received medical treatment for his injuries and is now hoping
that his dream of a forever home will one day come true.

These six Shar-Pei are the finalists for the Operation Scarlet Rescue Dog of the Year
Award. Dogs were chosen based on the circumstances that caused them to become
homeless or the obstacles that they had to overcome on their journey to a new home.
Votes are $1.00 each and the Pei with the most votes will win the award. You may vote
as many times as you like. Get your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to buy
votes for your favorite Rescue Dog.
A Very Special Tribute To The 2015 Rescue Dog of the Year
Catherine Havemeier, adopter and associate of Operation Scarlet, has offered to do an oil
painting of the winning dog from a picture of your choice.
Catherine's one of a kind oil painting of the winning Shar-Pei will be presented to the winner
at the Fall Luncheon on October 25, 2015.
Remember all of Scarlet's Kids will be winners because all of the proceeds from this
event will benefit the homeless kids at the rescue.
The Operation Scarlet Rescue Dog of the Year Award will be presented to the winner on
April 26, 2015 at the Spring Luncheon.
