Where Are They Now? Joanna is visiting the Grameen Danone yogurt social business. Here, she is pictured with the local farmers in rural Bangladesh. These farmers provide the milk for the yogurt, which is later sold at an affordable price across the country, helping to solve both poverty and malnutrition. The month of September was originally chosen by Terry to reflect when he had to stop running and when Canadians had to start. As part of its mission to support charitable causes of interest to the Society, members of The Scarlet Key Society participated in the annual Terry Fox Run. This year, the team raised over $2,200 for cancer research! Thanks to everyone for your support and for your generosity. A big thank you to everyone who came out and made this such a great event. Peter Sheremeta (BCom’91) Director of the Terry Fox Foundation – Quebec region Congratulations to the 2014 Scarlet Key recipients! Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the 2015 ceremony on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in the Faculty Club. 2 Scarlet Key Leadership Conference and Homecoming Brunch During Homecoming Weekend in October, we invite three Scarlet Key recipients from various backgrounds and careers to come talk to a group of Keys, current students, and alumni. The goal of this conference is to provide Keys, current students, and alumni with an opportunity to connect and network with prominent McGill alumni and Keys, who are leaders in their communities and experts in their fields. This year, the presentations covered areas such as leadership, career flexibility, time management, community work, and entrepreneurship. Our three wonderful speakers were Richard Pound (Partner, Stikeman Elliott LLP), Louise-Marie Parisien (President, Iceberg Waters Corporation), and Filip Papich (Managing Director, Bank of Montreal). On Saturday morning, current SK Executives invited returning Keys to a Homecoming Bruch to meet the newlyinducted Keys and to reminisce about good old McGill. Thank you to everyone who came to the Leadership Conference and Homecoming Brunch; we hope you see you again in the near future! And to those who missed it, we hope you can make it to one of our events soon! Interested in organizing a Scarlet Key Chapter event? Get in touch to find out how we can help to connect you with Keys in your area! E-mail us at scarletkey.alumni@mcgill.ca. Also, don’t forget to check out the SK LinkedIn page or SK Newsletter for upcoming events. 3
