HEALING PAWS IS COMING IN May! Christie Dudzik will be visiting
ORCS classrooms on May 20 & 21 . She will be teaching the children dog safety.
* Pictured left is Christi Dudzik, Healing Paws president, with retired Pet
Partner Teddy (yellow lab on left), Pet Partner Ruby (Papillion in middle
front), Pet Partner Paddy (yellow lab on right), and Cozy (Papillon being
held), who has no desire to be a Pet Partner.
* Mrs. Dudzik will teach the children how to ask permission from dog owners to pet their dog and what to do when they encounter a strange dog.
Even if your family does not contain animals, your children should still be
taught the basics.

Christie has been visiting ORCS with her trained therapy dogs for 18 years.

Playground Use
Parents—we love that you and your children love to play on the playground after school. The
children all know the playground rules but need friendly reminders every now and then. Please
help us keep things looking nice and help remind the children of our playground rules.
 When on the hillside we keep our feet on the paths and do not run, jump or climb in the dirt
 Plants are for looking at and smelling but we do not pick leaves, etc.
 Woodchips stay in the wood chip pile and sand stays in the sandbox—we do not dump these
items on the cement area or windowsills.
 We leave the playground as we found it
We want the new plants, and hillside to be able to thrive in order to keep things looking nice. If
we do not get support in this area we will be forced to close the playground after school hours.
Come join ORCS during the
last 15 minutes of your child’s class

HOPELINK
Below is an excerpt from a recent letter sent to ORCS from Hopelink:
Thank you so much for your donation of 59lbs of food on 4/22/15.
Many families are turning to Hopelink for help every day. Their fear is that while they may have been able to
provide for some basic necessities with their own resources that it may not be enough to last the entire month.
There may not be enough money to pay the power bill to keep one’s home warm. There may not be enough hope
to think that, perhaps this week, there will be a call back for a job interview that will lead to a promising career.
Thanks to your donation, the worry that so many of our neighbors experience starts to be alleviated. Your support makes it possible for us to provide the tools to regain their footing.
Thank you ORCS families for all your donations!

Each year about this time I am amazed to see how much ORCS children have grown! We have prayed that
each one would grow socially, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually and physically, and I am so pleased to see
evidence of that growth. Now with this new growth, other needs and opportunities arise, don’t they? New
clothes, bigger car seats, more friends and a host of environmental adjustments track with this new growth.
While we don’t know very much about Jesus’ childhood, Luke does describe His growth in Luke 2:52, “And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men.” This brief description helps us to
see how balanced growth happens in our children’s lives.
Think with me especially about growing in grace as it relates to your child. This growing “in favor with God” is
a life long process and it takes patience, but the ideal of a mature, grace-filled relationship with God should be
in every parent’s prayer.
As you grow together as a family, don’t forget to aspire to grow in grace along with wisdom, stature, and favor
with others in our human family.
Happy Parenting!
“but grow in the grace and knowledge of our lord and
Savior JeSuS chriSt.”

We are so excited for you to join us this summer for Vacation Bible
School.
VBS theme is “CAMP DISCOVERY” and the focus will be on “Jesus
Working through Us”.
VBS will be led by the fantastic Joshua Team college kids from AFLBS.
Registrations will go out at the beginning of May and due by the end
of June.
We will be ordering camp t-shirts this year for our theme so be sure to
turn them in on time so we can order a t-shirt for your child (and you
if you are volunteering).
VBS is made possible because of donations and amazing volunteers so
we really appreciate all your support.
Please see Stephanie Hokanson for any questions or if you would be
interested in volunteering. See you this summer!
