Education
Prior to documenting your appraisal education, review OAR 161-020-0110 to identify the specific education
requirements for the license or certification category for which you are applying. Verify that your qualifying
education courses are approved by checking the Approved Courses and Course Providers List on the ACLB
website. List only those courses that you successfully completed and passed an examination. Course outlines
for any course may be requested to verify course content.
NOTE: For all categories, all courses must be no less than 15 hours in length and you are required to complete
the 15-hour National USPAP Course, or its equivalent, within 4 years of the date your application is received in
the Board office.

Verification of successful completion of the required coursework must be in the form of official transcripts
from an accredited college or university, signed letters, or copies of signed certificates of completion.
Verification of 45 quarter credit hours of college level education, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or
equivalent, must be in the form of official college transcripts from an accredited college or university. No
other documentation will be accepted.
Your application will be denied if you do not meet the current education requirements.
State Licensed Appraiser Requirements: No less than 150 qualifying education hours as provided in
OAR 161-020-0110 (2)(b) and 45 quarter credit hours of college level education or Associate’s degree.
State Certified Residential Appraiser Requirements: No less than 200 qualifying education hours
as provided in OAR 161-020-0110 (2)(c), and a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
State Certified General Appraiser Requirements: No less than 300 qualifying education hours as
provided in OAR 161-020-0110 (2)(d), and a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.

Appraisal Experience
Complete Form 3 (Experience Logs) and submit an Employer Affidavit if applicable. Assistants registered with
the ACLB must submit signed copies of all AA logs, even those submitted previously. Experience gained as a
registered appraiser assistant or experience gained as an independent fee appraiser does not require an employer
affidavit.
Examination
When your application is approved, you will receive written confirmation. At that time, you may contact the
testing service to schedule an examination.
