2. What training courses or groups have best prepared you to become an
effective and powerful Elder?
I mean Elder as differentiated from the terms adult, old and aged. Elder, in the
sense that for untold thousands of generations, humans lived a three-stage life ―
Child, Adult and Elder. Beginning with the Industrial Revolution, a mere eightgenerational blink of the evolutionary eye, we have lost the Elder stage, source of
cultural wisdom. My thesis is that our species has devolved into a two-stage life
as all other mammals, no longer being differentiated by our unique Elder stage.
This third stage – Elder -was our evolutionary ‘edge’, as important as the
opposable thumb or the neocortex. The re-invention of Elder seems critical for
humanity’s future.
With loss of the three-generational family, we have also lost the basic training
ground of Elder. However there are large numbers of Elders who, lacking that
family training, have trained themselves or received wisdom-training in other
groups. As an Elder, what groups have best prepared you?
Response must be tight, clear and specific, 250 words or less. Email me at
HarveyWAustin@Yahoo.com. I will acknowledge receipt. The book’s working title
is “Become an Elder Instead of Just...Getting...Old: An Instruction Manual”. My
intent, but not promise, is to use what you send, unedited, edited, or
summarized. If used, I shall name you in a special acknowledgement section.

This is a romantic-suspense novel about an American Architect traveling to Abu
Dhabi in the Near East during the immediate “post-9/11” world, and working to
repair the glass facade of a prominent high-rise building. After the World Trade
Center towers in New York City were destroyed, the United States begins to track
the terrorists down in Afghanistan. When America initiates its “War Against
Terrorism” with military action in Afghanistan, the relations between the West
and Muslim countries, and between Christian and Islamic religious groups, begin
to deteriorate and become dangerously tense. Meanwhile the Architect meets an
old high school classmate, and they slowly drift into an affair, even though she is
a married woman. The love affair heats up even as military, religious, and

5. Core Ideas In Neuroscience (e-book).
This book is for everyone who needs to be informed by
neuroscience but doesn't want to invest a huge commitment to
learn. It's a small book that gives the big picture, with emphasis
on 75 big ideas, not minutia. A given idea is completely covered in
about four to 8 on-screen pages. Principles of neuroscience are
explained in easily understood, concise summaries. Each module
features a concise statement of the core idea, definition of
relevant terms, explanation of the core idea, examples, links to
related core ideas, general references, and classic references. Illustrations and
examples aid in understanding the material. Study questions are also included in
each chapter. Traditional textbooks are too big, too detailed, too indigestible, and
too expensive. Contact WRKlemmATSIGNgmail.com.

7. Historical Fiction Available For Review
The C Enigma
By Spiros Gratsias
ISBN: 978-1499625608
ASIN: B00MIWE734
Published: August 2014
Pages: 312
Genre: Historical Fiction
A particular brand of evil has reared its ugly head at certain points throughout
history, and humanity must fight to keep it in check. This balance is sometimes
managed on the scale of world wars, but it can also come down to an individual’s
actions. The C ENIGMA explores the premise that one man’s courage can
influence the outcome of a war on evil as large and powerful as Hitler’s Nazism.
Chance—or perhaps fate—leads Matthias Adkins up to his grandfather’s attic,
where he discovers a hidden picture of Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, the head of the
German secret service during WWII. A few other items reveal that his
grandfather has left him a set of riddles that will lead him through three time
periods—1945, 1988, and 2008—on a hunt for his family’s identity and his own
destiny…which turns out to be a destiny beyond his wildest dreams.

“LEED v4 Green Associate Exam Guide (LEED GA)” I love to have your
readers review it. Here is some info:
Review Wanted: “LEED v4 Green Associate Exam Guide (LEED GA)”)”
Pass the LEED Green Associate Exam, Get Your Building LEED Certified,
Fight Global Warming, and Save Money!
The USGBC released LEED v4 at the GreenBuild International
Conference and Expo in November 2013. The GBCI started to
include the new LEED v4 content for all LEED exams in late
Spring 2014. We have incorporated the new LEED v4 content in
this book.
Starting on December 1, 2011, GBCI began to draw LEED
Green Associate Exam questions from the second edition of Green Building and
LEED Core Concepts Guide. We have incorporated this information in our book.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is one of the most
important trends of development and is revolutionizing the construction industry.
It has gained tremendous momentum and has a profound impact on our
environment.
From this book, you will learn how to do the following:
1. Pass the LEED Green Associate Exam.
2. Use LEED exam preparation strategies, study methods, tips, suggestions,
mnemonics, and exam tactics to improve your exam performance.
3. Effectively understand, digest, and retain your LEED knowledge.
4. Understand the process of registering and certifying a building for LEED.
5. Understand the scope, main intent, core concepts and strategies, as well as
identify the regulations, recognition, and incentives for each major LEED category.
6. Identify the strategies for case studies.
7. Identify the synergy in case studies.
8. Implement the most important LEED related codes and building standards.
9. Get points for categories not yet clearly defined by the USGBC.
This book fills in the blanks and demystifies LEED. It uncovers the secrets, codes,
and jargon for LEED as well as the true meaning of "going green." It provides a
12
solid foundation and fundamental framework for LEED. It covers every major
aspect of LEED in plain and concise language, and introduces it to ordinary
people. This guide is small and easy to carry around. You can read it whenever
you have a few extra minutes. It is an indispensable book for ordinary people,

9. Please find details of my Award winning historical mystery novel
“Baudelaire’s Revenge” for review.
Many thanks and regards
Bob Van Laerhoven – Belgium
“Baudelaire’s Revenge” – English translation of “De wraak van
Baudelaire,” winner of the Hercule Poirot Prize for best mystery
novel of the year in Belgium
It is 1870, and Paris is in turmoil. As the social and political
turbulence of the Franco-Prussian War roils the city, workers
starve to death while aristocrats seek refuge in orgies and
séances. The Parisians are trapped like rats in their beautiful
city but a series of gruesome murders captures their fascination and distracts
them from the realities of war. The killer leaves lines from the recently deceased
Charles Baudelaire’s controversial anthology Les Fleurs du Mal on each corpse,
written in the poet’s exact handwriting. Commissioner Lefevre, a lover of poetry
and a veteran of the Algerian war, is on the case, and his investigation is a
thrilling, intoxicating journey into the sinister side of human nature, bringing to
mind the brooding and tense atmosphere of Patrick Susskind’s Perfume. The plot
dramatically appears to extend as far as the court of the Emperor Napoleon III. A
vivid, intelligent, and intense historical crime novel that offers up some shocking
revelations about sexual mores in 19th century France, this superb mystery
illuminates the shadow life of one of the greatest names in poetry.

10. Question Authority to Think for Yourself
Beverly A. Potter, PhD
RONIN Publishing, Fall 2012
Isbn: 978-1-57951-162-3
$14.95; 200 pg
Thinking for yourself is not so easy. When encountering an
argument to a long held opinion or a wild idea, we use critical
thinking, as we were taught to do in school. The problem is that
critical thinking is critical, focusing our thinking on the negative—
what doesn’t work, what’s wrong with the idea—and encourages my-side thinking
where we evaluate evidence in a way that favors our beliefs and entraps us into
closed-mindedness. Thinking for yourself requires open-mindedness.
Thinking is not driven by answers but by questions. To think, you must question.
To think through or rethink anything, one must ask questions that stimulate
thought. The quality of your questions determines the quality of your thinking.
Our own opinions is one authority we should frequently question. Times change.
We change. Perspectives and values change. Book explores how opinions and
values we held in the past need periodic evaluation and challenge. Independent
thinkers evolve and need to shed the shackles of old views and opinions.
If you’ve bitten your tongue and later wished you’d spoken up and not been
14
cowed into silence by a mocking co-worker when you revealed a “politically
incorrect” viewpoint, you’ll find much of interest in Question Authority; Think for
Yourself .

11. STATINS: Miraculous or Misguided?
Mark j Estren, PhD
RONIN Publishing
Pub 2013
978-1-57951-166-1
$16.95, 150 pp
Do you or a loved one use statins—the most-prescribed drugs
in the nation? Many believe they are miracle medicines
because they change the balance of good and bad cholesterol
in ways favorable to health. They can even be beneficial for
people without a history of high cholesterol or cardiac disease.
On the downside, STATINS: MIRACULOUS OR MISGUIDED? reveals that almost
everything people think they know about statins is wrong. We’ve been told that
problematic cholesterol comes from eating rich foods when actually the body
makes it. Statins work by interfering with the body’s ability to manufacture
cholesterol, which is its “miracle”. Unfortunately, statins also have side effects,
including muscle pain, digestive problems and potential liver damage. Research
suggests that statins increase the risk of diabetes and are implicated in
generalized fatigue.
STATINS: MIRACULOUS OR MISGUIDED? explains the risks in clear, jargon-free
language, tells danger signs—such as forgetfulness, confusion, excessive thirst or
urination, muscles aches and symptoms of liver damage—and explains how to
address such symptoms with your doctor. STATINS: MIRACULOUS OR
MISGUIDED? describes alternative approaches used by naturopathic
practitioners, which may include substituting red yeast rice extract or plant
sterols for a statin, eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as wild salmon,
and avoiding trans fatty acids such as are found in deep-fried foods, snacks, and
some bakery products.
15
STATINS: MIRACULOUS OR MISGUIDED? is an easy-to-understand
explanation—for patients and doctors alike—of the pluses and minuses of statins,
and essential reading for anyone taking these drugs. It is a wonderful gift for a
friend or loved one using statins.

Are you a worrywart? Do you lie awake at night mulling over things that might
happen? Do you always expect the worst? Have you worried obsessively about
something only to have everything turnout okay? Do you drive your friends and
family crazy with your worrywarting?
Worrywarts work themselves into a near panic with scary thoughts, going around
and around, making themselves sick. The solution is not to stop worrying. Worry
is useful in planning and preparing – a kind of mental “fire drill” – for mentally
rehearing options. The problem is that worrywarts get stuck in the dangers and
downside, convinced the worst is inevitable. The Worrywart’s Companion shows
how to worry smart. You’ll learn how to worry a problem through, then act to
soothe yourself so that you can get a good night’s sleep.
Brimming with practical ideas, positive, easy to understand, and fun to read, The
Worrywart’s Companion explains how worrywarting is learned. The good news is
that it can be unlearned! Includes twenty-one simple things you can do when you
feel a worry coming on. Instead of worrying yourself sick, you’ll learn how to do
the work of worry, then take action to soothe yourself so you can let the worry

go—so you can get a good night’s sleep!

Healing Hormones: How To Turn On Natural Chemicals to Reduce Stress
By Mark J Estren, PhD & Beverly A Potter, Phd
Publisher: Ronin Publishing

Feeling stressed? Overwhelmed? About to jump out of your
skin from pressures of everyday life? We all feel that way at
times: ready to explode from everything going on—unrelenting demands, all the
time. So we take medicines, see doctors, overeat, even use alcohol or drugs. Still
the pressures mount. It’s unbearable! There must be a better way!
There is. Your body knows what to do. Your body makes healing hormones that
fight stress, promoting calm and balance. Nitric oxide, dopamine, endorphins,
serotonin and oxytocin will help you cope with the demands of living in our hectic
modern world—if you let your body do its job!
Healing Hormones shows what you can do to help yourself without pills or
supplements. It shows that stress is not what most people think—not something
“out there.” Stress is a response to external events—positive or negative. Since
stress is your reaction, you can learn to control runaway stress by encouraging
your body to produce anti-stress chemicals that will keep you calmer and better
balanced.
Healing Hormones shows how we create stress by reacting to what we think is
happening around us—not what is really happening. We make our own reality—
one much more stress-filled than it has to be. Since we make it, we can change it.
17
Healing Hormones tells how. A wonderful counterbalance to the pressures
urging us to take more medicines and look outside ourselves for health, Healing
Hormones explains how you can be healthier and happier—today and every day.

Book Description:
Throughout much of my married life, I lived under the illusion that I had it all
together - it was everyone else that needed fixing. Several years into my second
marriage my husband, a Deputy Sheriff, became a workaholic and was never
home. Meanwhile, I became a volunteeraholic, too busy to face the fact that we
had become two strangers under one roof, raising three kids.
God revealed Himself to me through the different women I volunteered with. As
my heart slowly opened to God's presence, my marriage came crashing down
around me. As I cried out for God's help, I discovered my husband’s affair. I
found myself surrounded by faithful people who gave me the strength to face the
problems in my marriage and the tools needed to begin fixing it.
Over the next four years, my husband’s health deteriorated and he was forced to
retire. Through this God continually showed me I was In His Way and then, when
He knew He had my attention, He would proceed to show me how to do things In
His Way. In the end, what God told me to do, saved my husband’s life, and our
marriage. What was broken is now fixed by the grace and love of God.

Ever since Brett Calman was a little boy, he dreamed of becoming a police officer.
But over the decades the ordinary progress of life seemed to get in the way of
that dream. As an adult, he found himself working as an upholsterer; he
maintained a successful business for a few years, but, despite the name he’d
made for himself and how far he’d come, something was missing from his life,
and he knew exactly what it was. He just had to figure out how to get it.
Brett didn’t know anything about the process of becoming a police officer or
about policing itself. He didn’t know any cops. But he did know that he wanted to
be one, and that he’d do whatever it took.
It was ten years ago that Brett came to this critical decision in his life, and, within
a short period of time, he realized his dream and became an active member of an
Ontario, Canada, police force. My Road to the Badge is the story of how he got
where he is today and the incredible insights, experiences, and information he
collected along the way.

"No one talks about what happens when you fall in love with the boy next door -not when you're the boy living beside the boy next door." Jared didn't want to do
it, but it had to be done. Someone had to sit before the government hearing to
explain why a gay man was nothing to be vilified, nothing to be hated or feared...
that he was just a man. That is what Jared Montgomery is determined to do. He
does so by sharing his story -- his and Luke's story -- in the hopes that perhaps
even just one more person could understand. Luke and Jared were battling the
odds from the beginning. Growing up beside each other, being best friends, they
soon learned that if they wanted to share each other's company, it had to be
done in secret, in the confines of the old train car behind the junkyard. There,
they were free of the taunts and jibes, the ridicule and hatred... or were they?
Unable to embrace who he is, unable to deal with the tactics used by his family to
'cure' him, Luke forces himself into a traditional marriage that is doomed from
the start. His true, self-denied love for Jared, and the hatred surrounding it, is
killing him. The question is, can Jared get to him before it is too late?

What happens when you get the life you aim for and it
hurts like hell?
The Johns family is unraveling. Hollis, a retired Ohio banker, isolates himself in
esoteric hobbies and a dangerous flirtation with a colleague’s daughter. Susan,
his wife of forty years, risks everything for a second chance at who she might
have become. David, their eldest, thrashes to stay afloat as his teaching career
capsizes in a storm of accusations involving a missing student and the legacy of
Christopher Columbus. And young Tilly, the black sheep, having traded literary
promise for an improbable career as a Hollywood starlet, struggles to define
herself amid salacious scandal, the demands of a powerful director, and the
judgments of an uncompromising writer.
By turns comical and poignant, the Johns family is tumbling toward the discovery

that sometimes you have to let go of your identity to find out who you are.
Recent Praise for The Lion Trees:

Bob the Bubble Gum Spider is a spellbinding account of a
physically challenged hatch-ling orb weaver named Bob and an evil organization
of black widow spiders called the Immaculate Order of the Web that requires him
killed . . . but the black widows are after a lot more than just Bob.
The IOW seeks to subjugate the world and the hairy two-legs are very much in
their way . . . and the black widows of the IOW are not tolerant of that which is in
their way:
"Nedra was always of the mind that she could handle things herself and had
come up with a few solutions of her own. For one, she was fondly considering
eating some of the no-account, malingering pledging priests, starting with
Osiris. That would surely provide the rest with the proper incentive to be more
productive. Of course, she had another solution that was even simpler and
required no action on her part: She dearly wished the forest would catch fire and
burn."

In his wildest dreams, Afghanistan war veteran Noddy Stoddart fantasised about
becoming king of Liverpool, even though his brother, Knobby, told him he was
crazy. But shooting government minister St John Jaunston in the bottom with an
air rifle on a visit to the city leads bizarrely to Noddy’s dream coming true--as
president of the newly created People’s Republic of Liverpool.
Outraged as Noddy and his Goth/Punk girlfriend set Britain against him through
further “bottom blasting” and then faux vampire actions before escaping to a
castle in France, the prime minister initially threatens ancient punishments. But,
facing Cabinet backstabbing and the loss of a general election, he succumbs to
realpolitik and invites the miscreants home as voter bait.
Mistake, because that’s when--with a little help from his friends, and the
involvement of an elf and his dog, Noddy takes full advantage.

Bethany and Roger Meadows plan for a bright future, a guest camp and pack
station that will cater to horse owners and adventure campers. The campgrounds,
cabins, stables, and pavilion are ready, but there are no trails for the guests to
explore.
Bethany and Megan venture into the woods to mark a trail, but a frightening
34
accident brings her face to skull with a mummified corpse. She sends Megan
and Kam out to guide FBI Forensic specialist David Harrison to the location of the
body. After Megan leaves, an unknown shooter attempts to keep the murder a
mystery.
Agent David Harrison finds when the bullets start flying Kam leads him to an
abandoned cabin where they wait out the storm and the shooter. He discovers he
wants to explore their shared heritage, in private.
With the evidence they uncovered in the cabin and the corpse itself, the mystery
unfolds and the connections to current day become clearer. Crimes of the distant
past link to crimes of the closer past and even to crimes of the present; blackmail,
extortion, arson, and murder attempts link the body and some of the current
residents of Riverview. David and Kam work with Megan and Aaron to uncover
connections and reveal what occurred so long ago and how it might affect people
in the town today.
David and Kam grow closer with each new danger, coming to appreciate the
similarities in their pasts and the differences that draw them to each other. Once
all the mysteries are solved, can they find a way to become a lasting couple, or
will her past interfere with their future?
This book, like the first Riverview mystery, Desperate Endurance, shows the
values and cohesiveness of small town and rural America. People are willing to
help each other and sacrifice as needed to keep each other safe in a very rugged
and unforgiving land.

About the Book: The Occupy Movement Explained- From Corporate
Control to Democracy
A readable, compact account and analysis of the Occupy protests, The Occupy
Movement Explained is thoroughly researched, painstakingly accurate, and fully
documented. Debunking a number of prominent myths and misunderstandings,
Nicholas Smaligo shows how the movement arose out of radical currents that
have been active below the media's radar since the 1970s. Occupiers are not all
the same, and the author reviews some of the debates and changes within the
movement. The occupations began under a slogan that conjured up a naive sense
of unity — "We Are the 99%!" It did not take very long for that sense of unity to
give way to an appreciation of just how socially, economically, and ideologically
fragmented American society is. For some, this was an excuse to return to their
cynicism; for others, it was an invitation to lose their illusions and begin to see
the world from the viewpoint of political activists. The Occupy Movement
Explained describes this process of education and the lessons learned about "the
99%," the police, direct democracy, political demands, and the intimately related
questions of social change, violence, and property.
About the Author: Nicholas Smaligo
Nicholas Smaligo is a PhD student, activist, and speaker. He was an active
participant in the Occupy movement. He lives and works in southern Illinois,
where he is involved in activism related to the environment, debt, and mass
incarceration.
About Occupy Wall Street
Occupy Wall Street is a people-powered movement that began September 17,
2011 in Liberty Square in Manhattan’s Financial District and spread to over 100
cities in the United States and over 1,500 cities globally. The movement fought
against the corrosive power of banks, corporations, and oppressive democracy as
well as combatted the richest 1% of people that created an unfair global
economy. Occupy Wall Street is credited with the achievement of changing the
national conversation, making inequality a central political issue.

37. Contemporary Humorous Fiction For Review
Tossed Off the Edge
Patrick Brown
Published: August 2014
ISBN: 978-1495359873
ASIN: B00N43OHFE
Pages: 196
Genre: Fiction/Humor
Indie author Patrick Brown has released his second book
Tossed Off the Edge, a clever and hilarious sendup of the celebrity tell-all genre.
The soap opera known as The Edge of Conflict has been keeping viewers tuned in
every afternoon since 1970. The show was centered on the exploits and troubles
of the very rich Knight Family of Hillvale. At the heart of this long-running drama
is Regina, played by soap diva Sheila Wozniak, who grew from troubled teen to
matriarch over the decades. Wozniak has won many awards, and once had an
enormous fan base.
However, as times have changed and soap opera audiences have dwindled,
Wozniak found that her influence with the network and the international soap
company Poplar & Grindle had waned just like her fan base. Refusing to change
along with the show’s producers, she finds that she has been fired. There will be
no more Regina, and to make her understand that they no longer want her, her
televised funeral turns out to be an on-air cremation. There was no way for her
to escape the flames.
With very little acting experience outside of her four-decade role, Sheila Wozniak
is unsure what to do next until a publishing house comes calling and asks her to
write her memoirs. She is a drinker not a writer; so she hires her favorite former
38
head writer from The Edge of Conflict to ghost write her autobiography.
The fun ensues almost immediately as Ms. Wozniak, ever the dramatic diva, goes
into detail about her past. Due to the many years of playing the same character
and being a fan of TV herself, she tells her story, leaving the reader entertained
but wondering if she really was married to a successful Madison Avenue
advertising agent (Bewitched) followed by a marriage to a successful California
architect with three sons (The Brady Bunch) or went on a spiritual pilgrimage to
Puerto Rico (The Flying Nun). From the book: “Regina Knight Harrison Donavan
Taylor Donavan McDonald McDonald Woodward Merriweather Todd’s funeral was
held on channel seven at 1:00 p.m. local time in every time zone across the
country. If you had ever watched daytime TV between 1970 until her demise, you
couldn’t have missed her. She was blond and dramatic, and she had been shot,
paralyzed, kidnapped, raped and tortured numerous times. On her better days,
she had given or received a number of internal organs, suffered heart attacks
and endured a radical mastectomy… In spite of all the difficulties, Regina
maintained a strong faith in the power of love. She was a one-man woman in
spite of having been married nine times to seven different husbands who got
younger and younger as Regina aged.
For readers who thrive on an actor’s conflicts with ungrateful children, they won’t
be disappointed since Miss Wozniak is under the impression that Mommie Dearest
was intended to be a guide to raising children!

40. Dammit, I Learned a Lot from That Son-of-a-Gun
12 stories, 12 authors
Totally Real, Totally True, Totally New
What happens when someone shares a story with us—a true
story, a story from their heart-of-hearts?
We feel connected. We realize the commonality of our emotions.
How we are, as human beings, all the same. We all falter. We
all fear. We all stumble. And we can all come back stronger.
Every son-of-a-gun in this book of twelve new, true stories is
different, but you’ll recognize each one. We’ve all had them in
our lives, these sons-of-guns. And whether we love them or we hate them, they
are our teachers. They impart some kernel of truth that we carry with us always.
You may not know these people, but you will know these stories. They’re about
emotions we all feel—fear, anger, temptation, even those times you slap yourself
on the forehead and call yourself an idiot. The circumstances may be different,
but the pain, the heartache and the triumph, those remain true.

When God Intervenes is an inspiring story about a shy insecure
woman who was empowered by God to carry out a big mission
far beyond her own level of expectation in a needy community
where people dared her to perform the task. Faced with the daunting possibility
of achieving the goal, her passion and concern for people suffering the effects of
mental illness drove her to pursue that mission regardless of the obstacles faced.
This book is funny, honest, touching, and shows that God can hide his face for
several seasons at times. Nevertheless He can be trusted in the deepest of
valleys to show up and work alongside an individual that is willing to trust Him
and go the distance. In doing this she also successfully managed what has now

When a father gives to his son, they both laugh. When a son
gives to his father, they both cry.
It's the 1962 World Series. New York Yankees versus San Francisco Giants.
Tropical storm Freda has delayed the crucial sixth game in San Francisco. It's dry
as a bone in Modesto, California, where the Yankees have a farm team and a field
named after Yankee owner Del Webb. A flurry of phone calls leads to a bus ride
to the Central Valley town of 30,000. On October 14th, 1962, a crowd of more
than 5,000 fills the small minor league park. This once-in-a-lifetime event
features eight future Hall of Famers. Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford and Mickey Mantle
from the Yankees; Orlando Cepeda, Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Juan Marichal
and Gaylord Perry from the Giants.
One of the fans is thirteen-year-old Mikey Wright. Unlike the rest of the
spectators, he's not there to see his idol and namesake, Mickey Mantle. He's
there to convince the Commerce Comet to play catch with Mikey's father, who is
dying of cancer.
Getaway Day chronicles Mikey's journey to save his father's life. And learn the

How to Write a Killer SAT Essay is the only award-winning book with dozens of
real essays written by real students. The net is full of abstract information on
WHAT to write about when constructing an SAT essay -- my book is full of
information on exactly HOW to write it. I include dozens of top-scoring, detailed
essays from students of mine who have put my principles into practice. When you
see step-by-step instructions on HOW someone has put an essay together, it's
much more valuable that simply knowing "what" the principles of good writing
entail. My book is also full of practical advice on the seven Rules of Engagement
you need to know about when constructing an essay. These seven rules provide a
clear and comprehensive writing methodology that every student can follow to
obtain a top-scoring SAT essay.
A "Snapshot" chapter provides a complete sample essay from start to finish with
all the component pieces highlighted and analyzed for impact. Examples of
46
introductory paragraphs full of quotes and anecdotes are included along with
an entire chapter of prefabricated content with student paragraphs from history,
literature, pop culture, music, sports, movies, and technology. Finally, a chapter
entitled "Spin the Prompt" demonstrates how to take any SAT prompt and "spin"
it to the content examples you've prefabricated.

"When NADINE is confronted with the reality of her failing
marriage, her first instinct is to work it out. She has had it
drummed into her that marriage is ‘for better, for worse’.
Walking out is just not an option - her faith would condemn her
and her culture would make her a pariah.
The combination of Nadine’s background, education, social standing, friendships,
faith, experiences and past relationships is meant to equip her to become a
success. Failure is alien to her and love means forgiving at all cost.
As she tries to survive and make the most of the curves that life has thrown her,
48
she discovers that ’success’ is a subjective term, and ‘happily ever after’ is
something that you have to discover and define for yourself …

Your body wants to be well—and it knows what to do to get better when
something goes wrong. Doctors do not understand this, so they give you drugs.
But drugs do not heal the body—they simply control certain processes to facilitate
healing, while your body heals you. Research has revealed that the secret of the
body's healing power can be found in "The Placebo Effect."
The Placebo Effect frustrates doctors, because they don't understand it. The body
does the healing. When your body knows something is out of balance, it moves
to correct it — no matter what medicines you take or do not take. HEAL
YOURSELF! shows how to harnessing your body's natural healing power to get
well and stay well.
The placebo’s amazing effects are not just "in the mind." They can be observed
and measured in the body's physiology. When patients believe in a fake
treatment, ulcers heal, warts disappear, cancer goes into remission, swelling
reduces—cells actually look different under the microscope.
And medical research reveals that it is not just fake treatments administered as
"real" that can elicit the power of placebo. Relationships matter. Being married
seems to help extend life more than stopping smoking!!! Similarly, spiritual life
matters. Those who regularly attend church live up to 14 years longer than those
who do not. Attitude matters, too. Happy people live 7-10 years longer and
optimists are 77% less likely to get heart disease.
HEAL YOURSELF! explains what happens in the brain to change the body. It
explains how researchers believe that the stress response creates an
environment that promotes physiological breakdown, while the "Relaxation
Response" creates a healing environment. More importantly, HEAL YOURSELF!
offers specific things you can do, and do today, to turn on your body's innate
healing mechanisms.

Boston, winter of 1885.
A string of kidnappings plagues the snow-laden city of Boston while a murderer
runs amok, hunting and killing the unborn babies of the city's social elite.
A powerful group called the Valentine Society controls the city's police
department, and the people of Boston's last hope for justice lies in the hands of a
man who mysteriously washes ashore from a distant foreign land, battered and
bruised.
To complicate matters, he doesn't remember who he is or where he's from...
Just a week after he is found unconscious aboard a cargo ship, Officer Silas de
San Michel is thrust into a mysterious case dealing with the vicious killings of
pregnant teenage girls. But what he doesn't know is that these young girls

61. Inspirational Poetry For Review
Life Destiny
By Steve Ryan

ASIN: B00MH94PZI
Genre: Poetry
Formats Available For Review: pdf, kindle, epub
Life Destiny is a very interesting concept. It’s a question that
people often ask themselves. I've even asked myself questions
about my own Life Destiny. What is my purpose here? Where is my life heading?
Why do people treat me this way? Why did it happen to me? What is the meaning
of it all? When it comes to Life Destiny, the questions are endless. .
This book will take you through a journey through some of the different stages of
Life Destiny. The voyage of this book starts off with the inspiring chapter of
"Turning Lemons into Lemonade." Then we will venture into the anger land of
"Ticked Off." After that, we will calm down, breathe and we’ll arrive at "Letting
Life Flow." After we are flowing for some time, we will be pulled into the sea of
"Depression." Once we survive this, we will finally arrive at the last chapter of
this book, "What Does Life Mean?"
The up and down cycles of life have touched us all at some point in our lives. It’s
like a roller coaster ride that’s unpredictable. I've experienced this before. One
minute my life was going great and then all of a sudden, an obstacle was thrown
my way. During those times, I have asked myself these questions. What do I do?
How do I handle it? How have others handled it? In some cases, knowing other
people’s experiences with similar situations can bring clarity. This has helped me
with some of my life decisions. Obstacles will come. That’s a fact. It’s not a
matter of if; it’s a matter of when. The outcome can be affected by the decision
of how it is managed. We will explore these things and more throughout this
book. So fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride through this book of Life
Destiny.

An American rock star is murdered in northern Spain, drawing her sister into the
underground of radical Basque Separatists and those who hunt them. With no
idea of her family’s ties to the feared ETA, Sancia is thrown unwilling into a
deadly baptism by knowledge, the price of which is death. Betrayed by those she

Piper Walker, a high school senior, has seen her share
of
hard times. At a young age, she lost her mother to breast cancer shortly after her
brother Charlie was born. Raising her baby brother under the wrathful eye of an
abusive and alcoholic father, she relies heavily on her small, but tight core of
friends. Lisa, her best friend from kindergarten, and Chris, her longtime boyfriend,
help to keep her above water. Along with her friends, Piper’s elderly neighbor,
Ester, and her lynx point Siamese cat, Jazz, become the extended family she
never had.
Even before her mom died, Piper always felt different. She was opposite of her
popular best buddy Lisa, and didn’t enjoy doing what most other teenage girls
liked to do. She wasn’t much for fixing up and thought hanging out was boring.
Music and nature were her muses. Piper grew up next to a forest with countless
paths, one of which led to the high school; the others to myriad of seasonal
wonders. Piper spent countless hours in the woods exploring and finding solace in
the trees, wild flowers, and every kind of animal. Although somewhat shy and
insecure of her voice, Piper was lead vocals and a passionate bass player for a
garage band called ‘The Coat Tails’ that consisted of Lisa, Chris, and their close
friend Josh. Having never sounded better, they were sure to win the senior talent
show.
After a Spring Fling dance, a near-death experience prematurely rebirths Piper to
her destiny, for not even she knows who she really is. Her identity has remained
buried deep for her protection. She awakens to a dimension where light laden
with emotions emits from everything around her. Overnight, Piper and her world
are transformed into something radically different. What she thought was real
63
was only the beginning, a thin veneer to actual reality. Universal truths are
turned upside down. She wakes to a magical world with an ancient history and
kingdoms of races. Life becomes way more beautiful, complex, and breathtaking
than she ever imagined.
A menagerie of supernatural and metallic gleaming mythical characters come to
assist Piper to take her first steps in her new world and keep her safe. The realm
of brilliant auras, feelings, and endless color surround her creating a language
she doesn’t understand. She begins a long journey to discovering and mastering
her powers and senses that defy fantasy. Riding gravity waves, casting spells,
and leaping to exotic locations become her new curriculum.
However, amongst the Eden lies a fatal danger. For centuries, a tyrannical rule
has suppressed and strangled the enchanted world she is now part of. A most
brilliant Guardian, named Eli, and his council, the Arbitri, have become the only
voice. Evolution has stopped. Only Piper has the power to bring about change.
Amongst the unspeakable beauty, unknown danger, and the desire to find out
who she really is, Piper stumbles upon an unexplainable, first-time love that
becomes the only thing that she can cling to in her stormy and unexpected life.
From the first time his voice dances on her ear drums, she is taken by something
wonderfully unreal.
Piper now must juggle her two worlds – and disguise her increasing abilities and
morphing appearance while attempting to be the slightly nerdy teenager
everyone knows.
This story captivates the imagination with the beauty of nature and the
celebration of love, life, and light – and the power of one girl.

By M.K. Theodoratus
Published: August 2014
ASIN: B00N12RNFE
Genre: Dark Fantasy
Formats Available For Review: PDF or Smashwords coupon
Slight of stature and lacking magic, old Ebe must destroy a nest of
frogtrolls who killed a long-time friend and mentor to regain his
self-respect.
Once Crossings was a tranquil town nestled in the foothills of the Sierras—a place
Ebe Brown thought was a paradise. His peaceful life is shattered when strangers
appear to raise guard dogs.
A group of dog farmers led by a brawny trainer, Rabler, takes up residence and
establishes a questionable business raising guard dogs. Sinister events begin to
occur almost immediately after their arrival. Ebe Brown, a lifelong resident,
suspects Rabler and his henchmen are not what they seem to be on the surface.
When Ebe’s dog disappears, he confronts the outsiders and his suspicions deepen,
but local law enforcement turns a blind eye on the dog-farmers’ menacing
behavior and their disturbing presence. The townsfolk are alone in their fight.
Ebe reaches out to the old leader of the magic working hill folk for help. Nance, a
tough as nails herb woman, is determined to set things right again, one way or
another. Unfortunately, Rabler and his crew have other plans. Their threats fail
when Nance refuses to back down, and all hell breaks loose. When Nance is killed,
Ebe is filled with remorse for failing to save her.
This suspense-filled novella reaches a cataclysmic end when Ebe fights to save
his self-respect and the people of Crossings.

Wealthy and successful Lawrence Juste QC finds himself tricked into taking a case
defending a juvenile against a charge of manslaughter by his clever – but dead –
wife. Normally he wouldn’t even have opened the folder without her around to
persuade him, but she’s left something else to do that for her; a list of unsavoury
people and events from his past. The ones he’s carefully hidden until now and
didn’t even know she was aware of.
Disconcertingly, the boy reminds him of himself – not only as a person but in the
crime he’s supposed to have committed. Taking the case catapults Juste into a
70
world that touches his own past with alarming regularity and leads him on a
journey back to his worst possible nightmare - and more.
Patchwork Man is the first in a trilogy. The second, Patchwork People, will also be
available for review from 30th September 2014 to reviewers who have asked to
review Patchwork Man

77. Sci-Fi Comedy Thriller For Review
In Favour of Fools
By J. Battle
ASIN: B00ISV15U2
Genre: Science Fiction, Comedy
Formats Available For Review: PDF, Epub, Mobi
A PI/SCI-FI/Comedy/Thriller introducing Philip Humphrey
Chandler as the socially inept hero who likes beer, coffee and
breasts - but not necessarily in that order.
Phil is private investigator; he's got a computer and a comfy chair, and he knows
how to use them.
He doesn't get all sweaty chasing the bad guys; not when his fingers can do the
work as he sips his coffee and looks forward to a nice cool pint. He doesn't
wrestle them to the ground, with a quick quip and a steely gaze; not when he
can sit in his comfy chair and dream about the girl behind the bar; the one with
the breasts.
Then he meets the ex wife of a missing crime lord, and everything changes.
Suddenly he's squirting to distant planets, finding dead bodies, dancing with
aliens, saving a world from the clutches of the cutest of aliens and, for one brief
moment, he becomes the richest man in the universe.
In a tale of treachery, danger, poor customer service and bad jokes, Phil is forced
to put aside his relaxed 'let someone else do the work' attitude, and take up arms
against the might of an alien empire (well, it's a crow bar actually, and the alien
71
is a little girl; a very tough little girl) and somehow find a way to save the day,
and Earth's most valuable commodity, and maybe even his dignity.
But where does this story really start?
Of course, for Phil, it’s when he first meets the ex-wife of the missing crime lord;
I guess it’s typical of him to think it all started with him. For Ben, it would be the
misplaced bullet; for Millie, it was, of course, the Joke, and for Sam; well your
guess is as good as mine.
In reality, it started much earlier; nine years earlier, with the robbery...
A laugh a minute comedy science fiction thriller filled with alien worlds, strangely
named AI’s, really bad jokes and a Narrative Facilitator who would really rather
be doing something else.

Alongside her own life and problems – her best friend MELEZZ, and her
unreliability, her arch-rival for heartthrob, MATT’S, attentions – JAS, and her

combined story examines different perceptions of love, obsession and
