Dear Parent/Carer
RE: YEAR 11 EXAMINATIONS
We have now entered the final examination period for Year 11 students. This means that more
and more lessons will be disrupted as courses come to an end and students begin to sit
examinations.
Attached is a general guide to the examinations and the overlay timetable. The general guide
shows when Year 11 students should be in examinations instead of lessons. However, please
note, this is just a general guide and not all students sit the same examinations. Your
son/daughter must use their individual statement of entry (these were distributed via Form Tutors
week of the 16th March) to ensure that he/she is attending his/her examination at the right time.
All morning examinations start at 8.30AM and afternoon examinations start at 1.00PM. Please
ensure a prompt arrival.
If a student arrives late to an examination the school may not permit entry and the examination
board will also be informed of the lateness. The examination board is unlikely to award the
qualification to the student unless there is a formal medical certificate to explain the lateness, and
then the examination board is still not bound to award the qualification.
In short – Students must be on time, and therefore we advise that students always aim to be here
30 minutes in advance of their examination to line up.
End of Courses:
All normal timetabled Year 11 lessons will end on Friday 8th May.
Examinations and Revision Sessions
From Monday 11th May the normal Year 11 timetable will be cancelled. A new timetable of lessons
that provide specific support for the examinations that students are sitting will be in place. The
exams summary and new timetable are attached, please go through this and the Statement of
Entry with your son/daughter to see when they need to come into school. If a student is unsure
whether they need to attend a revision session they should speak to their subject teachers as soon
as possible.
If a revision session runs at the same time as an examination, it is the examination that must be
attended.
Thursday 4th June is an INSET day for the rest of the school, Year 11 students will need to come in
for some examinations or revision sessions (as indicated on the attached plan).
A copy of the examination rules and code of conduct is also attached. Please go through these
regulations carefully with your son/daughter in order to ensure they optimise their chances of the
best possible outcomes during their examinations.
A reminder that the Year 11 NRA celebrations take place on Thursday 2nd July. Details will be
issued in advance of this date.
