An enduring track record of effectiveness and experience in research and scholarship in a pharmacyrelated field. Entering rank is commensurate with prior experience.
Responsibilities:
• The Assistant/Associate Dean for Research is responsible for providing vision and leadership in Research and
Scholarship, and serves as the chief research officer of the College. The candidate for this position will also serve
as a member of the Dean’s Executive Committee and would serve as the College’s spokesperson on all research
issues. The candidate will have teaching duties and opportunities based on their area of expertise.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Promotes research and scholarship within the College
• Develops research policies and procedures, and oversees technical research issues
• Prepares the research budget request and administers the allocated research budget
• Promotes effective research collaborations within the College and across the University to grow research output
and interdisciplinary research.
• Initiates and nurtures collaborations and partnerships with external organizations to expand capabilities and
resources.
• Leads the efforts around Faculty research training and development, including, but not limited to, grant
applications, intellectual property, patents and research contracts.
• Develops strategies to increase research funding in collaboration with the Northern California Research
Foundation.
• Presents the College’s research capabilities to potential donors and other interested parties.
• Assists the Dean with strategic planning and development of research initiatives
• Documents internal routing of research proposals to various committees (e.g. IRB) prior to submission to a grant
funding agency, or disbursement of internal funds
