Code of a Killer
Monday 6th April, 9pm
From the director of Broadchurch and the producers of Line of
Duty, this brand new two-part drama starring David Threlfall
and John Simm is based on the extraordinary true story of how
a brilliant scientist and pioneering police detective united to
create the most significant advance in modern criminal
investigation. The drama also features Lorcan Cranitch, Robert
Glenister, Anna Madeley and Andrew Tiernan.
In 1984, Dr Alec Jeffreys (Simm), a University of Leicester
scientist, unlocks a remarkable technique to read every
individual's unique DNA fingerprint. Just four miles away,
tenacious detective DCS David Baker (David Threlfall) is
leading the search for the murderer of a local schoolgirl. Baker
has his suspicions, but cannot prove anything at this stage.
Two years later, a second schoolgirl is murdered. A local
teenager is arrested and confesses to the second murder - but
denies the first. Certain that the same man murdered both girls,
DCS Baker turns to Dr Jeffreys, whose DNA test has only been
used in immigration and paternity cases. Can the test prove the
teenager murdered both girls? The community wait anxiously
for news that the killer has been caught.
Vera
Sunday 5th April, 8pm
Brenda Blethyn returns to her role as the
caustic, complex DCI Vera Stanhope of the
Northumbria and City Police for the fifth series
of crime dramas based on characters created
by bestselling author Ann Cleeves. The first
episode, Changing Tides, sees Vera (Blethyn)
investigating a suspicious fire that rips through a
holiday park on the Northumberland coast.
Three cabins are destroyed and the body of a
woman is found inside. Park owner Jim Viner
(Wayne Foskett) returns with his daughter Clare
(Katherine Rose Morley) from a weekend away.
He quickly suspects that the body is his sister
Deena but cannot explain why she was there
and not at the family home. Long-term resident
Malcolm (Dorian Lough) returns to find his cabin
has also burned to the ground.
A police report reveals that Clare’s boyfriend
Ryan (Elliott James Langridge) and his friends
had been partying near the caravan hours
before the blaze started. But where are they
now? And where is Deena’s best friend Sally?
When Vera discovers that Deena was locked in
her cabin, she knows this is more than just an
accident. Supported by her trusted team, DS
Aiden Healey (Kenny Doughty), DC Bethany
Whelan (Cush Jumbo) and DC Kenny Lockhart
(Jon Morrison) Vera must use all her tenacity
and instinct to expose the deep rift at the heart
of this fractured family and ultimately discover
the truth behind Deena’s tragic fate.

Slow Train Through Africa with Griff
Rhys Jones
Friday 10th April, 9pm
Renowned comedian and TV presenter Griff Rhys
Jones explores Africa the unhurried way in this fivepart series as he takes to the continent’s railways
to immerse himself in the joy and occasional
frustration of travelling through such a beautiful and
beguiling land. Starting his 7,000-mile journey with
a north African jaunt in the Moroccan city of
Marrakech, Griff stocks up for his trip before
boarding the train for a seven-hour railway journey
to Fez, the former capital sometimes known as the
Mecca of the West. He enlists the help of eccentric
guide Abdul and learns about the art of
leather‐making, one of the city’s oldest crafts.
Unable to cross the border into Algeria, Griff heads to Spain before flying back across the
Mediterranean to Africa’s largest country, where he travels 300 miles by rail from the port of Oran to
the capital, Algiers. Griff learns how to cook couscous the Algerian way inside a beautiful old
merchant’s house, then ventures to the east of the country and the breathtaking city of Constantine
before crossing into Tunisia. He heads south towards the vast Sahara Desert during a hot and
sticky nine-hour journey to the oasis town of Tozeur.
Ice Rink on the Estate
Thursday 9th April, 9pm
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, Olympic
heroes and stars of ITV’s Dancing on Ice, take
part in a unique social experiment in a bid to
give something back to their beloved home town
of Nottingham. When they started their careers,
the city’s council gave Jayne and Chris a grant
which allowed them to give up their jobs,
concentrate on ice-skating, and ultimately
become 1984 Winter Olympic skating
champions. Now they want to return a favour to
the city that helped them in their youth. The big
idea is for Jayne and Chris to oversee
installation of a pop-up ice rink in the heart of the
city’s deprived St Ann's area. They hope to
stage a performance featuring the teenagers
of the community, but will they manage to
persuade young people from such a tough
area to participate? In this week’s first
episode, Jayne and Christopher return to their
old stomping ground, where their first big
hurdle is finding and convincing local
youngsters to take part in the show. Following
initial training, the chosen teenagers then face
their daunting first performance, skating to the
music of Beethoven in front of their
classmates. Can they overcome nasty falls,
frosty fingers and fear of embarrassment in
order to put on a memorable show?

Thunderbirds Are Go
Saturday 4th April, 5pm
Fifty years after its television debut, the classic series is back, and before
the show settles into its regular home on CITV (where it can also be seen
this week on Wednesday and Thursday at 5pm), there’s a chance to
catch the debut episode of the new series on the channel where the
original show began its life back in the 1960s. The re-invention of Gerry
and Sylvia Anderson’s classic series features a talented cast led by
Rosamund Pike as Lady Penelope and David Graham reprising his role
as chauffeur and International Rescue agent Parker, and also stars
Kayvan Novak as inventor Brains and Thomas Brodie-Sangster voicing
John Tracy. Using a unique mix of CGI animation and live-action model
sets the series delivers a new level of action-adventure animation while
also paying tribute to the original 1960s phenomenon.
In the first episode, Ring of Fire, a powerful underwater seaquake turns a
busy day for International Rescue into a perilous one. Gordon’s mission is
to rescue a research team trapped in an undersea lab, but in doing so he discovers a chain of
seismic destabilisers positioned along the bottom of the ocean floor. Lady Penelope is contacted to
help the Thunderbirds find the person responsible. The Hood’s re-emergence reminds the Tracy
brothers of the terrible events that led to their father’s demise, and they come up with a plan to stop
him. Gordon works to find the disruptors and rescue civilians, but runs into difficulties when John
discovers that the devices are linked. Scott and Virgil have their hands full when one of the massive
earthquakes alters the orbit of a giant satellite used for gathering solar energy.
DCI Banks
Wednesday 8th April, 9pm
The critically acclaimed crime
drama series based on the
novels by Peter Robinson,
starring Stephen Tompkinson
as Banks, concludes with the
second half of a two-part story,
Ghosts. Banks learns that
missing former undercover
policeman Martin Hexton (Cal
MacAninch) was thought to
have gone rogue by his former
boss. Banks thinks that Hexton
beat up Liam Fallon (Richie
Campbell), a suspect in the
Josh Tate murder, but Fallon
swears that he did not see his
assailant. Helen (Caroline Catz)
works hard to win back Banks's
approval and
discovers that
Hexton is actually
Josh's biological
father.
The team trace
Hexton to Gerald
(Nicholas Gleaves)
and Elaine Foster
(Natasha Little)’s
house, but they are
too late – he has
kidnapped Melanie
ITV.com
(Tanya Fear). When his victim
collapses, however, Hexton
takes her to the hospital, where
Helen corners him and has him
arrested. She and Banks
question him over the beating
of Fallon but he admits nothing.
He explains that Josh believed
that Melanie was pregnant with
his baby, although she later
had an abortion. The team
eventually have to let Hexton
go and Banks realises that
Josh’s friend Spencer Foster
(James Bloor) is the most likely
suspect for his murder, yet
struggles to pin anything on
him. When Spencer is
released, however, Hexton
abducts him, taking him to the
ravine where Josh’s body was
found.
Week 14/15
Big Star’s Little Star
4th - 10th
April 2015
Wednesday 8th April, 8pm
The third series of the hilarious entertainment show
concludes this week, opening the door one last time
to find out what life is really like in some celebrity
households. Host Stephen Mulhern, who has recently
fronted celebrity talent show Get Your Act Together
and ITV2 panel show Reality Bites, quizzes some of
Britain’s most popular stars and their children to
unearth some magical memories and hilarious
anecdotes as they try to win as much money as they
can for a charity of their choice. The show offers
viewers a peek into the home lives of the stars, revealing what they are really like behind closed
doors. Each week, three celebrities and their little superstars compete for a possible jackpot of
£15,000. Will their offspring keep quiet or will there be any embarrassing revelations about what
mum and dad get up to when the cameras are not following them? Perhaps the celebs have some
hobbies and habits that they would prefer to keep out of the public eye, but will the kids be able to
keep them under wraps under the glare of the spotlight? Famous mums and dads (and even
granddads) in the current series so far have included Boyzone’s Ronan Keating, politician John
Prescott, former soap stars Joe Swash and Sheree Murphy, boxer Carl Froch, former footballer
Jimmy Bullard and actress Tricia Penrose. Tonight’s final episode of the series sees DJ Jo Whiley
and her six-year-old daughter Coco, Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt and his six-year-old son Danny
and Countdown host Nick Hewer and his nine-year-old grandson Theo battle it out.
Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway
Saturday 4th April, 7pm
Ant and Dec conclude the current series of their
fun-packed Saturday evening entertainment
show. The show remains one of the most
popular programmes on ITV as the boys present
a winning formula featuring star guest
appearances, nail-biting challenges, hilarious
pranks and amazing prizes. In the main game
towards the end of the show, one lucky person
from the studio audience is randomly selected
for a chance to ‘win the ads’ – in which prizes
are selected from one of ITV’s commercial
breaks and can range in value from toilet rolls
and boxes of cereal to brand new cars and
luxury holidays. The celebrity voiceover has
been supplied by various stars including Neil
Patrick Harris and Clare Balding, with tonight
seeing Broadchurch star Olivia Colman in the
voiceover booth, Ant and Dec Undercover sees
unsuspecting celebrities pushed to the limit as
they are thrown into bizarre situations by the
heavily disguised Geordie duo, Little Ant and
Dec give some cheek to England captain Wayne
Rooney, more stars go under the boys’ control in
the hilarious I’m a Celebrity... Get Out of Me Ear!
– which has seen Cheryl Fernandez-Versini,
Jeremy Kyle and Richard Madeley all doing the
boys’ bidding in previous weeks – and the End
of the Show Show will feature another big star
name performing alongside the up-for-anything
Geordie duo.

Barging Round Britain with John
Sergeant
Friday 10th April, 8pm
In this eight-part series, John Sergeant sets off on a
rich and colourful voyage along some of the finest
canal journeys that Britain has to offer, exploring
the stories behind the waterways as he goes.
Britain’s canal network is a true national treasure.
Forged in the heat of the Industrial Revolution yet
passing through some of the most beautiful scenery
in the land, our canals boast a remarkable history
while remaining home to a vibrant community
rooted in a unique way of life.
John’s travels take him across the length and
breadth of Britain, from the gentle downs of
Somerset in the south, via the breathtaking countryside and engineering of the Llangollen Canal of
north Wales, to the dramatic splendour of the spectacular coast-to-coast Caledonian Canal in the
north of Scotland. Every step of the way, John immerses himself in living history, bringing the past
to life by rolling up his sleeves, getting stuck in, and having a go at canal practices past and
present. In the final episode of the series, John navigates his way along the Grand Union, Britain’s
longest canal, discovering amusing characters and places en route. The waterway is definitely the
most delightful way to get from Birmingham to London, if not the fastest!
The Jonathan Ross Show
Saturday 4th April, 9.35pm
The Saturday night chat show concludes its
eighth series as the nation’s favourite interviewer
plays host to another range of celebrity guests
and musical performers.
Jonathan’s first guest is celebrated actor Ethan
Hawke, who first made an impression in Dead
Poet’s Society and went on to give acclaimed
performances in Before Sunrise and its sequels,
Gattaca, Training Day and the award-winning
Boyhood. Joining him on the sofa is adventurer
and survivalist Bear Grylls, whose series
Mission Survive has just finished on ITV. Sports
broadcaster Clare Balding is Jonathan’s third
guest, starting her career off as a jockey until
she went into broadcasting and became an
acclaimed presenter of many sports events
including the Grand National and the
Paralympics. She has also written a best-selling
autobiography and is about to present her own
sports chat show. Jonathan’s final guest is pop
superstar Kylie Minogue, who first appeared on
TV as an actress in Neighbours before kicking
off a successful pop career in the 1980s which
has endured through the subsequent decades.
Music on tonight’s show is performed by James
Bay, following on from the massive success of
his debut single Hold Back the River.

Off Their Rockers
Sunday 5th April, 7.30pm
The show that proves that you need never act your age,
no matter how old you are, continues its third series on
ITV this week. Proving once again that advancing years
are really nothing but a number, this brand new run of
the hidden camera comedy show sees senior citizens
turn the tables on unsuspecting members of the public as
they embark on a series of hilarious, outrageous and
unexpected pranks. The latest series features an
ensemble cast of over fifteen mischievous golden oldies,
who are hell-bent on causing mayhem across the nation.
The uninhibited, unruly and frequently shameless OAPs
hit the streets of Britain on a mission – to dupe the
general public with their assortment of light-hearted
jokes, naughty set pieces and carefully crafted stunts.
These playful pensioners have just one thing on their
minds – to have a blast, grow old as disgracefully as
possible, and maybe change people’s perceptions about how the older generation ought to behave!
In this week’s episode, Pamela looks for love on Tinder, Seb mixes up his medication and
Rosemary searches her grandson’s internet history.
Britain’s Got More Talent: Top
Ten Moments *
Monday 6th, Tuesday 7th and Thursday
9th April, 8pm
Stephen Mulhern ramps up the
excitement for this year’s ninth
series of Britain’s Got Talent
with three special shows
celebrating three of the judges’
top ten favourite moments. The
talent series has seen a few
line-up changes on the judging
panel over the years, with the
current foursome staying in
place since 2012. Actor
Amanda Holden is the only
judge to have remained on the
panel throughout all nine
series, so it is only fitting that
she kicks off the trio of shows
on Monday, recalling her
favourite auditions and
performances over the past
eight years, including opera
singer Paul Potts and bellydancing drag diva Mama Trish.
Tuesday’s show is Alesha
Dixon’s turn to take a look
ITV.com
back. The singer, dancer and
former Strictly Come Dancing
champion joined the show back
in 2012. She reminisces about
her time on the show and
highlights some of her favourite
acts, including the street dance
group Diversity and panwearing Dalek doofus Martyn
Crofts. Finally, Little Britain
funnyman David Walliams, who
joined the panel at the same
time as Ms Dixon, is the focus
of Thursday’s programme as he
casts his eye over his time on
the show and reveals some of
his favourites, including teen
stand-up sensation Jack Carroll
and Rocky the disobedient owl.

Skyfall *
Sunday 5th April, 9pm and Wednesday 8th
April, 8pm
The Bond film franchise turned 50 years old in 2012, and to
mark the occasion the production company Eon released
Skyfall, the third starring Daniel Craig and the 23rd film of
the series so far. The first Bond outing to be directed by
Sam Mendes, Skyfall went on to prove one of the most
critically acclaimed entries in the franchise, winning two
Oscars – including one for best song by Adele – and two
Bafta awards, becoming the most financially successful
Bond film to date at the box office. ITV2 offers another
chance to see this popular action film, ahead of the release
of the new instalment Spectre later this year.
The plot finds Bond (Craig) on assignment in Istanbul, but when this job goes gravely wrong and a
series of agents around the world are subsequently exposed and murdered, M (Judi Dench) is
forced to move MI6 after the agency also comes under attack. M’s authority and position are
subsequently questioned by Gareth Mallory (Ralph Fiennes), the new chairman of the intelligence
and security committee. As MI6 becomes compromised both inside and out, M has only one trusted
ally to turn to - James Bond. Bond takes to the shadows, aided by field agent Eve (Naomie Harris),
as they follow a trail to the mysterious Silva (Javier Bardem) whose lethal and hidden motives prove
to lead back to M herself.
The Only Way Is Essex
Sunday 5th April, from 4.15pm
The award-winning real life
soap concludes its explosive
fourteenth series this Easter
Sunday on ITVBe. As ever, the
estuary guys and girls have laid
bare their real lives, relationship
highs and lows, flashy lifestyles
and fashion faux-pas for all the
world to see. The latest series
kicked off in inimitable TOWIE
style as Ferne and Danni
clashed during a holiday in
Tenerife – or TenerGRIEF as the holiday
shall now be known –
causing a divide in the
group which continued
long after they returned
to Essex. Having started
as they meant to go on,
the residents have
ensured that this series
has been one of the
most dramatic yet, with
big fallouts and major
showdowns from the
likes of Chloe and Elliott,
Georgia and Fran, Lydia
ITV.com
and her mum Debbie and club
night promoters Lockie and
Tommy. Even the seemingly
perfect pairing of Georgia and
Tommy has gone through a
major wobble as accusations fly
and threaten their selfappointed ‘Essex power couple’
status. As a holiday treat, the
second half of the series will be
showing from late afternoon,
allowing viewers to catch up
with all the action in time for the
series finale at 10pm. Will
Chelliott be able to keep their
hands off each other, can Arg
keep up the good work since
leaving rehab and will Danni
and Lockie be happy in their
new love nest? As the summer
break beckons, ITVBe is the
only place to find out!

April 2015
Carry On Forever *
Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th April, 9pm
ITV3 continues its celebration of the Carry Ons
over the Easter weekend with more back-to-back
movies and the final two parts of the
documentary Carry On Forever. The second
episode chronicles what many consider to be the
golden era of the Carry On brand in the late
sixties. Jim Dale talks about his role in Carry On
Spying, Amanda Barrie reveals what life was like
on the set of Carry On Cleo and there is
previously unseen footage of Sid James relaxing
off-camera. Carry On vamp Fenella Fielding
goes back to the location used for the spinetingling Carry On Screaming, Anita Harris recalls
life on set with American TV superstar Phil
Silvers in Follow That Camel and Angela
Douglas returns to Snowdonia where Carry On
Up The Khyber was filmed.
The final episode looks at how the brand hit the
seventies on top form, following the bikinibursting antics of Carry On Camping. Jacki Piper
and Valerie Leon (pictured) remember life on set
in Carry On Up The Jungle, while the sons of
Peter Butterworth and Kenneth Connor get
together for an emotional look through previously
unseen photographs of their dads at work. June
Whitfield and Sally Geeson recall how Carry On
Abroad was filmed much closer to home than
the cast had hoped, and Patrick Mower recalls
appearing alongside one of Britain’s biggest
guns in Carry On England.
British Touring Car Championship
Live *
Sunday 5th April, 10.30am
As spring arrives, the new motor racing season gets under way. Once again, ITV4 will be showing
live coverage of the British Touring Cars Championship along with a regular highlights programme.
The Championship kicks off with rounds one, two and three on the weekend of the 4th and 5th of
April from the Brands Hatch circuit, the setting for last season’s finale which saw Colin Turkington
crowned BTCC champion. Once again,
the Kent circuit will bookend this year’s
championship, hosting the final meeting in
October. Ulsterman Turkington will be
defending his title, hoping to win a third
championship. His closest rival last
season was the veteran Jason Plato, who
will also be eyeing a third BTCC
championship although it was announced
last February that both drivers would be
joining the Team BMR this season. How
the dynamics of this new partnership will
work will no doubt be one of the season’s
fascinating stories.

Gracepoint
Wednesday 8th April, 10pm
The American remake of Broadchurch, also starring David Tennant
and featuring two detectives investigating the murder of a boy in a
tightly-knit coastal community, continues. In episode two, Ellie
(Anna Gunn) is given a list of suspects by the Solano family. The
police discover cocaine in Chloe's (Madalyn Horcher) bedroom and
500 dollars in cash under Danny's bed. Under questioning, Chloe
tells Ellie that she was just holding the cocaine for her employer,
Gemma Fisher (Sarah-Jane Potts) of the Crestview Inn. Carver
(David Tennant) is told by Jack Reinhold (Nick Nolte) that he saw
Danny talking and joking with a hiker on the cliffs ten days before
his death. Beth Solano (Virginia Kull) confides in Paul Coates
(Kevin Rankin), the local priest, that she is pregnant. CCTV footage
of the parking lot near the crime scene reveals that Mark Solano
(Michael Pena) was hanging around and appeared to be waiting for
someone. Carver pays a call on caretaker Susan Wright (Jacki
Weaver) to get the keys to a beach house near the crime scene, but then it is discovered that
Danny's skateboard has been left inside her mobile home. Ellie and a team of technicians find
Danny's blood and shoe prints at the beach house. Carver questions Mark, who initially lies about
his alibi but finally admits he was out with a friend whose name he refuses to disclose. Then Ellie
calls Carver with the news that Mark's fingerprints have been found at the beach house.
Pokemon the Series: XY
Monday 6th April, 5pm
The 18th series of the ever-popular Japanese
animation about the Pokemon – or ‘pocket
monsters’ in Japanese - kicks off with a brand
new episode this week. Again the protagonist is
Ash Ketchum, who is accompanied by his
Pikachu as they travel through the Kalos Region
looking to make new friends, find new Pokemon
to capture and seek out new rivals to take on in
battle. With their new companions Clermont (the
secret leader of Lumiose City Gym), Clermont’s
younger sister Bonnie, and Ash’s childhood
friend Serena, this continues the XY series in
which their ultimate goal is to compete in the
famous Kalos League.
This week's brand new episode is Pathways to
Performance Partnering, in which our heroes
head to Coumarine City. A lunchtime squabble
between Clemont’s Chespin and Serena’s
Pancham gets out of hand but that is soon all
forgotten when they bump into Smoochum and
Farfetch’d. Their trainer, Nini is planning to enter
her first Pokemon Showcase, just like Serena,
and they are eager for feedback on their
performance. However, with Team Rocket
nearby, our heroes are certainly not the only
ones ready for an impromptu show.

Emmerdale
When Laurel overhears Rhona and Marlon talking about her behind her back, she lashes out. Now
out of control, she breaks into the village hall and steals some drink from the tombola stand. When
she has a blackout, Marlon is left having to face the fact that his wife is a full-blown alcoholic. With
Chrissie away, Aaron and Robert are enjoying some quality time

punishes himself with another run, which will have serious
consequences for everyone. Brenda is annoyed by the way Bob
seems to be bending over backwards to please Carly. James is

has a right to know what is going on. At the Dingles, Rachel has a run-in with Belle.
Coronation Street
Anna does her best to encourage Faye to bond with her baby but it is clear that she wants nothing
to do with her. Owen angrily confronts Craig, convinced that he is the father, leading to a violent
outburst. Faye eventually confides in Anna that Jackson is the father, but he denies having anything
to do with her. Owen is arrested over his attack on Craig. As Tim
bonds with his granddaughter, Faye decides that she wants to give
the baby up for adoption. Anna and Owen have a huge row which
ends with Anna telling him that she no longer loves him. Jason and
Sarah realise that Bethany has been winding them up, so they
decide to play her at her own game and pretend that they are back
together. Eileen’s blind date with Adrian goes well, but Todd
manipulates her into playing it cool and distracts her with a
flirtatious fake message from ‘Jeff’ via the dating website. Tony
grows tired of Liz taking him for granted, especially when she asks him to pay for Steve and
Michelle’s wedding. Noticing his mood, Tracy seizes the opportunity to make further digs about Liz
in the hope of luring Tony into resuming their affair. Todd sees the pair kissing and confronts Tracy,
who offers him a pay rise in return for his silence. Sally is jealous as Alya impresses Carla with her
designs. Alya postpones a business dinner with Carla to comfort Faye, but Nick insists that Carla
stays and has dinner with him at the bistro.
