GCH La Brise Sun Bear became the first Pyrenean Shepherd to win Best in Show at an AKC All-Breed Show. Congratulations to all involved, especially Sunny’s owners, Patricia Princehouse and Kathryn Lanam! We are now officially The Pyrenean Shepherd Club of America, Inc. The PSCA Board voted to file for incorporation at their November meeting. The papers were filed by an attorney and the status was granted by the Pennsylvania Department of State in December. The Board voted to pursue member club status with the AKC on December 21st, but we are still in need of more member households. Being a member club gives the PSCA official parent club status. We will then be able to appoint a delegate to represent us at AKC delegate meetings. Please, if you haven’t renewed your membership, send it in now. New members are always welcome too. The form is located on the club website or contact Ann Shepard and she will email you one. We have a new website! While it is still a work in progress, you now have the capability to submit your payment for membership, general trophy fund, health fund, rescue fund, and trophies for the National. The t-shirt sale and other items for sale are also available in the Store page of the website. A small fee will be added to help defray the PayPal fees charged to the club. Check it out at www.pyrshepclub.com. The 2015 National is fast approaching. We hope you are making your travel plans to be there. Even if you can’t attend, there are still many ways that you can help make this a successful event. Consider sponsoring a trophy, buying a tshirt, or purchasing quilt raffle tickets. More information about the National can be found on the club website or on our Facebook page, 2015 Pyrenean Shepherd Club of America National Specialty. Finally, I’d like to thank Whitney Coombs and Betty Wathne as they complete their terms on the PSCA Board of Directors. I am sure both will continue to be involved with the club in other capacities. Mary Newman and Diane Overstreet will be the new incoming board members. Welcome! The dog/bitch can be spayed/neutered and compete in these classes. They do have to be purebred and AKC registered. Grooming Space: Each exhibitor is responsible for purchasing their own grooming space. There is free grooming space in each pavilion but it is very limited. The grooming coordinator for the cluster knows that we will be buying our space individually. The form is on page 60 of the premium. Please note on that form that you want to be with the Pyrenean Shepherds. The pavilions are close together. If you are showing in conformation and agility you can reserve space in both buildings or one. If you are agility only, please note that on your form. The PSCA has been approved to hold its first two single day AKC agility trials! We will be hosting one on Friday, June 5, 2015 and the second on Friday, July 31, 2015. The Saturday/Sunday trials will be hosted by other breed clubs so 3 days of agility on both weekends. The trials are posted on the AKC site where you can see classes offered and the judges. The location for both trials is the Soccer Sportsplex in North Olmsted, Ohio (west side of Cleveland). Their website is www.soccersportsplex.com . They have 2 soccer fields with FieldTurf, A/C, snack bar, and lots of grass for running dogs. They also accept a certain number of RVs for each trial. The Trial Superintendent is Pinnacle Dog Sports and will be handling all aspects of the trial for us from Trial Secretary to volunteer workers. All the club has to provide is the Trial Chair (Karen Majka) and the Trial Committee of at least 5 people. The superintendent provides free lunch and one non-alcoholic drink to each committee member. The club will need volunteers for the Trial Committee for each trial. The committee should be about 6-7 people so there is some flexibility if someone needs to leave the site to run an errand. A minimum of 5 committee members must be on site all day. If someone is willing to be on either one or both of the trial committees, please send your name and contact info to Karen Majka at AgilityCairn@aol.com . The premium will be finalized by early March 2015 so we will need to have names before that to ensure we’ve met this requirement. Any club member can be on this committee, you do not have to run a dog at the agility trial. The Trial Superintendent will be providing ribbons for qualifying, placements, new titles, and MACH/PACH/ PAX ribbons. The PSCA will also be sponsoring additional prizes for Pyr Sheps only! Entries for the first trial open on April 1, 2015 and the second opens on June 17, 2015. Both are first received so be sure to enter early. Motels in either Strongsville or Westlake are fairly close to the show site and should be booked early. For questions or additional info, email Karen at AgilityCairn@aol.com Hope to see you all there in June and July!! VOLUME 28, ISSUE 1 PAGE 10 New Titles Earned….
