Volusia County*s Solid Waste Division is operated as an enterprise fund in which users pay for the operation of disposal activities. It receives solid waste generated in Volusia County and some from neighboring Flagler County. This 3,400-acre landfill area has a life expectancy to 2052. Participants will observe Class I and Class III disposal operations, visit the household hazardous waste disposal/recycling area, and see the on-site leachate treatment plant.
