Best practice support for the multidextrous academic

Introduction
The ARMS Qld/NT/PNG Chapter is again organising a stimulating and practical professional development
workshop. The subject of this - our 7th workshop - is Best practice support for the multidextrous academic.
Many academics have a workload model built around Teaching, Research and Service, which can
present challenges in terms of meeting KPIs across and within those areas. Their research allocation
will usually require publication, student supervision and research income targets. In pursuing research
income targets they may be further challenged in delivering across funding categories e.g. competitive
or commercial. The academic needs to be not just ambidextrous, but multidextrous.
This workshop will showcase best practice methods and tools that research support staff can use to assist the
academic in meeting their research goals.
We look forward to welcoming you to QUT Gardens Point Campus on Tuesday 30 June to increase our
understanding of the challenges, identify opportunities, and share experiences through our peer network.
When: Tuesday 30 June 2015. Arrival: from 8:45 am (for 9:00 am start) - 3.30 pm

Accommodation
QUT’s Gardens Point Campus is located in Brisbane’s CBD. There are a number of affordable hotels ranging
from self-contained apartments to five star hotels. You could expect to pay between $120 - $200 per night.
