Principalʼs Corner
Dear Fisher Parents,
Congratulations to Fisher’s Math Olympiad Teams!
Fisher Middle School had two teams competing in Math Olympiad this year.
A team of 6th grade students competed in Division E, and a team of 7th and 8th grade students competed in Division M.
Math Olympiad students complete five monthly contests, each with five challenging problems, from October through
March. Fisher’s Division E and Division M teams both earned plaques for Highest Achievement (Top 10% nationwide)
and all students improved their problem solving skills.
Congratulations to 6th grade student, Nicole Krockenberger, for her perfect score in Division E. Nicole is the first
student in LGUSD to earn a George Lenchner Award from the Math Olympiad Foundation for a perfect score.
The high scorers and trophy winners for the Division M team were 8th grader Laura Herron and 7th grader Arto
Mihalache.
Congratulations to all participants for their dedication to math and their perseverance in problem solving!
We are very proud of you!

Hi Friends in LG
We have 3 opportunities to gather this week!
This Thursday - May 21 we will be hiking in Saratoga at
Fremont Older. If you plan on joining us, please meet in the parking
lot at RJ Fisher at 9am, and we'll carpool (I can take 6 people).
Bring a sac lunch to eat on the hike and plan on being back at Fisher
by 1pm. Dogs are welcome on this hike!
Friday we'll do our regular hike at 9am, meeting at the Main
Street bridge area. I won't be there, as the high school freshman
class is doing a Fun Run and I'm volunteering (you'll see the
students running the trail, so you may want to hike the wider trail up
to the Reservoir, so as not to get trampled).
Friday at 11:30, Pia Jacobsson, one of our Swedish Friends In
LG members, has invited us to her house for a pot luck lunch. Please
come, and bring something to share (she'll be making a couscous
salad). She welcomes dogs into her back yard if you want to bring
your pooch.
Pia's address is 139 Newell Ave, phone 669-2267840.
Please RSVP if you plan on joining us on Thursday or on Friday
at the pot luck.
Best,
Janet Stimson - 408-309-5844

Please also consider donating a small commercially prepared cake or other dessert for our cakewalk. Cakes can be donated on
June 3rd outside the main office before school – or brought directly to the cakewalk booth if you are also volunteering to help.

8TH GRADE DANCE
Parent Volunteers Needed!
Friday, May 29th
We have planned an awesome celebration
for our 8th Graders and need your help
to make it happen!
http://fisherhsc.ivolunteer.com/graddance_015 Two-Three Great
Parent Volunteer
Opportunities
Next year’s 6th and 8th grade classes each need a parent volunteer (ideally two for 6th grade) to track community service hours monthly. This is a very Mlexible opportunity as the work can be completed from home and whenever it’s convenient for the volunteer. Volunteers need to record community service submissions from students, track cumulative community service hours throughout the year and report back to students regularly via email with updated ytd community service hours. Requires 2-‐4 hours/month. Please contact Karen Boncher for more information: kboncher@comcast.net. Thank you!
