A CHEERFUL GIVER
A cheerful giver does not count the cost of what he gives.
His heart is set on pleasing and cheering the one to whom

Dear Friends,
In this life, the end of one
thing just leads to the start of another.
Lent and the celebration of Holy
Week comes to an end with the
wonderful climax of Easter. Then our
life in the Faith we hold so dear seems to just move
on as we prepare to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday
this weekend and prepare for the celebrations of the
Ascension and of Pentecost in the weeks ahead. In
between the Sacraments of Confirmation and First
Communion for our young people.
Before we move on I want to express my
tremendous gratitude to all who made our Holy
Week such a wonderful experience: those who
cleaned and decorated and prepared our church; the
extraordinary music ministers; the young people of
Paz y Bien and all who made this year’s Passion
Play and Stations of the Cross so moving and well
coordinated; the many ministers and ushers and altar
servers at the many Masses and prayer services; as
well as my fine brother priests for their celebrations
and preached reflections. I must say that I do not
think there is another parish in all of the
Archdiocese of Newark that is able to celebrate the
mysteries of Holy Week in the way that we do here,
touching the hearts and minds of so very many
people with the Gospel Message. Thank you to all
who helped and to all who participated.
*********
Take note that on Saturday April 18th we
invite all those who may be suffering the effects of
illness or any disability, as well as the limitations of
age, to come to a Mass of Anointing at 10:15 a.m..
The Mass will be celebrated primarily in English at
this time (in the Fall in Spanish); all are nevertheless
invited to receive the sacrament in which Christ
offers his consoling and healing touch.
Sincerely yours,
Msgr. Gregory Studerus
Pastor

Our Catholic Faith:
Comes through Baptism
Please share the news: The Lord said: “Go out
and Baptize all nations, in the Name of the
Father and of the Son and of The Holy Spirit.” This is the
way our Catholic faith becomes part of us. For anyone
interested in becoming Catholic, now is the time to begin
learning what we believe. Please encourage family or friends
without Baptism to contact the parish before Easter of this
year so that they might be included in the learning and
preparation program for the year ahead.
Citizenship Study Group
Are you preparing to take your Citizenship Test? Would
you like to join our study group? Over a 6 week period, we
will review the 100 questions, the Pledge of Allegiance and
some history of the USA. This course is offered in English
on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Grammar School.
Classes will be held May 6, 13, 20 & 24, June 3 and 10.
If you are interested please register in the rectory office.
2015 Anniversary Liturgies
The Archdiocese is once again preparing the
annual tradition of honoring those couples who
will be celebrating five, twenty-five and fifty years
of Christian marriage in the year 2015. These anniversary
liturgies will be celebrated by Archbishop John J. Myers in
the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark as
follows:
April 19: 3 p.m.: 50 years (All Counties)
May 3: 3 p.m.: 25 years & 5 years (All Counties)
It is our desire that every couple in the Archdiocese
deserving of such recognition be present at the appropriate
liturgy. The presence of a large number of couples will give
favorable witness to the strength and stability of Christian
marriage in today’s society.
Parishioners interested in celebrating one of these
anniversaries are asked to call the Rectory to sign up.

Catholic Home Missions Appeal
Many dioceses right here in the United States do not
have enough priests and trained lay ministers to serve
their parishes. These dioceses are known as home
missions. The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take
place this weekend in the second collection, and
supports these dioceses by funding essential ministries,
including seminary education and lay ministry training.
Please be generous in this appeal and share your
resources to strengthen the Church at home.
