The Chamber Office Is Moving!
Yes! You read that right! I’m guessing not too many people have seen that
headline in the Chamber Newsletter before.
The Chamber Office will be moving to a new location as of August 1st. We
will be housed in the new Homestead Center at 1119 B Street. Several other businesses will be joining us in the new business park which was previously the loan office area of Homestead Bank.
We are excited for the possibilities and opportunities this will provide to the
Chamber! Working alongside other organizations will allow us the opportunity to touch base with more businesses of Schuyler. This will encourage
the growth of our Chamber Members, solidifying the strength of our
community.
We would love to have you stop by to visit us!
Wishing you and your family a Happy & Safe 4th of July!

July After Hours Host - CASA & Friends of CASA
Every day in this country, 1,900
children become victims of abuse
or neglect, and four of them will
die. Every day. CASA Connection
is the local Court Appointed Special Advocates program serving
Platte and Colfax Counties. CASA
Connection recruits, trains and
supports citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interests of
abused and neglected children in
courtrooms and communities.
Volunteer advocates—empowered
directly by the courts—offer judg-
es the critical information they
need to ensure that each child’s
rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care.
Our volunteers come from all
walks of life. You do not need a
legal background to be a volunteer. You can have a full-time job,
and still be an Advocate. All
training is provided by the CASA
Connection director. If you are at
least 21 years old, can pass a
background check, have a few
hours a month and a heart for
helping abused and neglected children, you need to talk to us at
CASA Connection.
For more information please attend the Schuyler Chamber of
Commerce July “After Hours”
hosted by CASA Connection on
July 17th at 5:30 at the Schuyler
Golf Course, or you can call 402563-4944 or toll free @ 877-6502015.
Ribbon Cutting - South Park Trail
The ribbon cutting ceremony
for a new pedestrian bridge
and trail was held Tuesday,
June 16th at the pedestrian
bridge located by the Oak Ballroom.
Citizens of Schuyler now have
a safe route to travel across
Lost Creek with the addition of
the bridge.
Game and parks provided 80% of the funding for
the walkway and 20%
came from local highway
allocation funds.
The new path is the third
phase in the City’s South
Park Trail Project.

El Puente Immigration Legal Services Ribbon Cutting
El Puente Immigration Legal Services, a
partnership between Catholic Charities
and Christ the King Priory held a ribbon
cutting, blessing and open house on
Thursday, June 25th.
El Puente was open from 2005 to 2011,
when the monastic community chose to
suspend services in order to discern a
renewed vision for the program. A collaborative partnership between Catholic
Page 2
Charities of the Archdiocese of Omaha and Christ the King Priory lead to the
reopening of El Puente in January of
2015.
The mission of El Puente is to provide
quality, accessible and affordable legal
immigrant assistance and services for
clients of Schuyler and Northeast
Nebraska.

Keep Schuyler Beautiful
Still Has Mini-Cleanup Grants Available
Keep Schuyler Beautiful still has Mini-Cleanup Grants available for the pickup of roadside litter funded
through a grant from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality’s Litter Reduction and Recycling Grant Program. Keep Schuyler Beautiful will pay organizations $50.00 for every mile of roadside
litter picked up and will provide these organizations with garbage bags, litter tools, safety vest, gloves and
a sign to be posted during the cleanups. It is proven that people are less likely to litter where there isn’t
any litter. If your organization would like to pick up litter contact Keep Schuyler Beautiful at 352-5472.
Electronic Waste Collection
The Colfax County Recycling Facility continues to take electronic waste each day the facility is open. A
charge of 10¢ per pound is paid at the time of disposal. Items that are accepted are computers, printers,
telephones, microwaves, televisions, computer monitors and more. By collecting this waste and properly
recycling it, our landfill is rid of hazardous waste. Partial funding is provided through a grant from the
Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality.
Thank you to our workers and the citizens of Schuyler for making our Spring Fling another successful
event this year!
