Development Assistant Seattle Musical Theatre The core role of the Development Assistant is to assist the Executive Director (ED) in event planning, grant writing, donor development, volunteer resource management, sponsorships and other duties as needed to implement the annual fundraising plan. This is a half time .5 FTE position and includes evening and weekend hours. The Development Assistant is under the direct supervision of the ED and works closely with Fundraising Committee and Office Manager. Duties and Responsibilities FUNDRAISING o Assist in building and maintaining all databases as needed for donor management and fund development o Collaborate with the ED and the Fundraising Committee on the annual plan calendar to include grants, events, marketing opportunities and donor development activities o Ensure that donor thank you letters are written and signed by the ED, the Board President or full Board within three days of receipt of donation o Research and collect data on productions, volunteer hours, public benefit and audience demographics for grant reporting, company expansion of sponsorships and building the subscription and ticket sale base o Research grant opportunities and assist in the stewardship of foundation and government opportunities as needed o Assist in the planning and implementation of all donor events o May assist ED and Marketing Committee in promotion of productions, the public benefit program and special events as needed. VOLUNTEER SUPPORT o Assist in the communication for the volunteer program including recruiting and scheduling of volunteers OFFICE o Assist in updating the website as needed. o Attend weekly staff meetings COMMUNITY OUTREACH o Attend community meetings, workshops and fundraising events as needed as a representative of SMT Qualifications The Development Assistant must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field including fundraising, communications, public administration, and nonprofit management or similar and/or at least two years experience as part of the development team in a nonprofit organization, preferably in the performing arts. He/she must have excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational and time management skills to meet a variety of scheduling demands and project needs in a fast paced environment. Attention to detail for database management is a must, as is the flexibility to work varied hours. He/she must possess strong interpersonal skills and a passion for the mission of Seattle Musical Theatre. This position is halftime .50FTE. The salary is $13,520 with a monthly stipend toward healthcare costs and vacation and sick leave benefits.
