6. Calculating PG turf and Fringe (2nd cut)
 The Putting Green is made up of PG turf and fringe (or 2nd cut).
 Both must be specified on the work order.
 The fringe must be a minimum of 1ft wide.
The area of the PG turf
 Determine the average width of fringe
(for this example = 1.0’)
 Take the average radius from #3
(9.86’)
 Subtract the average width of fringe
(9.86’ – 1.0’ = 8.86’)
 Multiply the number times itself
(8.86’ x 8.86’ = 78.50

 Multiply that total amount by 3.14
(3.14 x 78.50 = 246.49
sqft)
 Round up for the total amount of PG turf = 247 sqft
