One year industrial training of the students made them accustomed to industrial working conditions thereby making them preferential candidates for recruitment. The industrial training is still maintained for one semester and is highly beneficial for the students. The University has an excellent placement record. In case of any emergency, adequate arrangement is made with renowned hospitals within the Faridabad city. UNIVERSITY GUEST HOUSE The University has an excellent guest house having fully furnished five living rooms which boasts of all the modern amenities to cater to the needs of visiting dignitaries and guests. ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY YMCA University of Science & Technology, Faridabad was established in 2009 vide Haryana Govt. Gazette Notification No.29 of 2009 dated 16.9.2009 (Haryana Act No. 21 of 2009), formerly known as YMCA Institute of Engineering, Faridabad. The Haryana State Government Technical University is situated right on the National Highway No. 2 on Delhi-Mathura Road, 32 Kms. from the National Capital, New Delhi. The University is well connected with rail and road transport from Delhi. The University offers Degree Courses (B.Tech.) and a number of Post Graduate Degree programmes like M.Tech., M.Sc., MBA, MCA and Ph.D. All engineering courses of the university are approved by AICTE. The university is approved by UGC under section 2(f) and 12 (B). While 4 hostels are meant for boys, 3 hostels are for girls. Good quality food is served through separate catering services available within boys and girls hostel. Athletic Events OTHER FACILITIES Day Care Centre The University has set up a play school cum day-care centre for children of teaching and nonteaching staff. The centre comprises of a play area, a dining room, a dormitory, a class room with lobby, and a pantry. It would be a state of the art learning centre providing the best available facilities. The centre has the capacity to accommodate 20 children starting from the age of one year. Residences The university has adequate residential arrangements for its teaching as well as non-teaching staff within the campus. All round security arrangement has been provided. 9 6 UNIVERSITY LIBRARY WORKSHOPS/LABORATORIES The Library is situated in a single story building with full air conditioned facility. The University library is well stocked with a wide range of books, journals in the stream of Engineering, Technology, Applied Sciences and Management to fulfill the information needs of under graduate, post graduate, research scholars, faculty and staff members. The main strength of this University is the concept of workshops, other than the usual laboratories. Library has two reading halls with an impressive collection of books, Journals, magazines, newspapers and CD ROMS. The library has a large Book Bank collection which is sufficient to cater to the needs of the students. The books are issued to the students for the whole semester under this facility. The library is well equipped with modern technology like internet, bar code technology. It is automated with the library Automation Software ‘LIBSYS’ and its acquisition, cataloguing, circulation activities are fully computerized. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is available for users to know the location of the reading material in the Library. Each student has been provided a bar-coded library membership card. Students can get 10 books issued at a time (including book bank books). The YMCAUST Library is also a member of INDEST, DELNET and UGC INFONET consortium. Library is getting the access of eresources from IEEE (All Society Periodical Package), Nature, Oxford University Press, Springer Link, Taylor & Francis group. The Link has been provided on the University website on the Digital Library page for accessing Open access (free) books and journals.
