This is a basic travel policy, including cover for emergency medical assistance – it does not provide cover for routine medical treatment. Please note: If you are travelling for more than 6 months, you should purchase travel insurance for the remaining number of months, beyond the cover provided by the University. For EU & EEA countries The European Health Insurance Card EHIC entitles students to medical care at a reduced cost, or even free. However, we do not recommend that you rely solely on this card but purchase adequate insurance in addition. For other countries You will need to arrange personal health insurance. For the US, Canada and Australia this is obligatory and you will not get a visa without proof of this. Most universities will require you to join their scheme.
