Points system is as follows: 1 x CALVING = 1 x POINT 1 x REDUCE UTERINE PROLAPSE = 1 x POINT Definitions: For a calving to be awarded a point all of the following criteria need to be met: a) A t least one calf is removed from the cow’s birth canal/uterus by, or under the direct guidance and in the physical presence of the claiming veterinarian. b) The person responsible for the cow (owner/farm manager) has requested veterinary obstetric assistance for that specific cow. c) The calving is charged for, and appears on an invoice to the client. (ie 1 point per cow calved NOT 1 point per calf) ■ Only one point in total is awarded per invoiced calving or prolapse. If more than one vet is in attendance at a procedure, the vets who are present must decide and agree who will claim the point. 7. Best Calving Tips or Tricks (x5): $300 Red Balloon “Experience” Voucher 9. In the event of a “dead heat” in any of the prize divisions (ie when 2 or more entrants are equal highest point scorers), a countback system will be used to identify final placings and final winners. Firstly the scores of the concerned entrants will be recalculated after the points earned from prolapses are removed, and the entrant with the greater score on this measure will be deemed to win the prize. If the remaining leading entrants are still equal on this measure, the leading entrant with the highest number of dystocias caused by shistosomas reflexum calves will be deemed the winner. If the remaining leading entrants are still equal on this measure, these remaining leading entrants will be compared again, and the competitor with the highest number of dystocias caused by a twisted uterus will be deemed the winner. If after these countbacks, there are still two or more entrants on equal highest score, then these entrants will be considered joint winners, the nominated prize divided equally between them, and in the case of the National Calving Champion, all names will be engraved on the trophy as equal winners, and the trophy will be permitted to be displayed in each of the winner’s employing clinics for a time nominated by the promoter. 10. All of the scoring posters are uniquely numbered, and remain the property of the promoter. These posters are to be returned to the promoter via the Bayer Territory Manager responsible for the clinic. In order for veterinarian-client confidentiality to be protected, the veterinary clinic is asked to obscure client names on the posters before they are returned to the Bayer Territory Manager. All vet scoring sheets are to be filed by the veterinary clinic, and returned to the Bayer Territory Manager responsible for that clinic at the conclusion of the competition for auditing purposes. 11. To ensure fair play, and the confidence of entrants in the integrity of the competition, the winners scores shall be verified by the promoter by a review of clinic invoices following completion of the competition period. Only procedures which appear on legitimate invoices are eligible for points. By allowing the Veterinarians in their employ to enter, the employing veterinary clinic agrees to allow the winners scores to be verified by the promoter via the viewing of these invoices on site within the clinic. Invoices will not be copied or removed from the clinic by the promoter. In order to protect veterinarian/client confidentiality, the veterinary business is asked to obscure client details on copies of invoices and scoring sheets before they are presented to the promotor for verification. The dates, and procedure performed must, however, be legible. The details on such invoices shall be treated as confidential and shall not be used by the Promoter for any purpose other than verifying the entrants points. 12.
