Rules 0.9 Beta 02/04/14 Rules 0.9 Beta Note: Small Tweaking going on, imagery is in flux as well, but the game is working really well. We welcome your feedback and stay tuned to this space as we tweak the rules and work on graphics! Goal: Hide your more monstrous traits and attempt to pass as a human. How to Win: The game lasts 4 turns. The player with the fewest points at the end of 4 turns wins unless one or more player scores 11 or more points, in which case the player with the highest score wins! (for 5-8 players changes, see addendum “More than 4 payers:” on page 5). Use the following 15 cards: 3 each of Stink, Eyes, Slime, Claws, and Scales. 1. Deal The oldest player shuffles and deals each player three cards, then deals one card face-up into the middle of the table. This card is called the Middle Card. The rest of the cards form the “deck.” 2. Players Choose Down Cards Each player choses one of their 3 cards and places it face down in front of them. This card is called a Down card. During the game, Down cards will be revealed at which point they are called Up Cards. The remaining 2 cards form a players “hand.” Players hands should be held so the other players can’t see it. 3. Starting with the Dealer and going clockwise, Players reveal Down cards (turning them into Up cards) When all cards are placed, the dealer reveals his/her Down card by flipping it over. This card is the dealer’s Up card. After revealing the card, the dealer chooses ONE of the two abilities to use and follows what that ability says. If one ability isn’t usable, then the player MUST choose the other ability. See below for a closer look at all the abilities. After the dealer’s ability has resolved, the next player clockwise reveals their Down card and picks which ability they want to use. This continues until all players have taken their turn revealing their Down cards and doing an ability. 4. Score Monster Points (remember, these are bad, you want to avoid points) Players score 1 Point for every Up card OTHER THAN THEIR OWN that matches a card in their hand. Players score 2 points for each card in their hand that matches the Middle card. 2 Rules 0.9 Beta 02/04/14 Example #1: Ali has a Slime card and a Scales card in her hand when it’s time to score MPs. Her Up card is Scales The MC is Slime The other players Up cards are; Slime, Scales, and Eyes Ali Scores 4 total points. Ali Scores 3 MPs from the Slime card in her hand. 2 MPs from the Slime card in her hand for matching the MC and 1 more point for matching one of the other player’s Up cards. Change Dealer and play another turn. Collect up all the cards and hand them to the player to the left of the dealer. This players shuffles them up and becomes the new dealer. Repeat steps 1-5 until you have played 4 turns. The player with the fewest points wins unless any player gets 11 or more points – if that happens, the player with the MOST points wins instead. 4 Rules 0.9 Beta 02/04/14 More than 4 payers: Changes to 5-8 player games The Deck In a 5 or 6 player game includes 24 total cards: 4 each of the following; Claws, Stink, Scales, Eyes, Slime, and Teeth. In a 7 or 8 player game includes 30 total cards: 5 each of the following; Claws, Stink, Scales, Eyes, Slime, and Teeth. Playing Ahead Only the Dealer and the next three players play Down cards after dealing the cards. After the Dealer reveals his Down card and does their ability, the 5th player plays their Down card. This continues with the player to the left of the dealer revealing their Down card and doing the ability followed by the 6th player playing their Down card. This gives later players more information before they choose their Down Cards. Players who have yet to play their Down card can NOT be targeted with abilities! In a 7-8 player game, instead of 11 or more points causing the highest total to win, it takes 13 or more. 5 Rules 0.9 Beta 02/04/14 Overview of Abilities A look at the Abilities on Each Card. Scales This ability lets you take the Top card of the deck and place it as a new Middle card. Take the old Middle card and shuffle it back into the deck. SLIME When you use this, you get to pick any player (including yourself). That player takes a card from their hand and plays it as a new Up card and takes their old Up card and adds it to their hand. This ability can only target players who have revealed Up cards this turn. “Drink liquid alcohols.” Beta PNP This ability lets you swap the position of any two Up cards. Remember, you don’t score points for matching your own Up card, so this card can be a real life-saver! Target monster switches Up card with one in their hand Switch the position of any 2 Up cards. ©Right After Then Design LLC “Drink liquid alcohols.” SCALES Slime This ability stops other players with targeting you or your cards with abilities. Great for when you like your hand just fine… Beta PNP Replace the Middle card with the top card of the deck. It’s a little risky though, because if the next revealed card is also an “Eyes” card, you score 1 point (that newly revealed Eyes card still doesn’t get to use an ability. 6 “Drink liquid alcohols.” EYES Eyes Beta PNP The next revealed card doesn’t have an effect. If that card is Eyes, you score 1 point The Monster to your right switches their Up card with the Middle card. ©Right After Then Design LLC This ability causes the player to your right to swap the position of their Up card with the Middle card. This ability can’t be used by the dealer because the player to the dealer’s right won’t have an Up card yet. Rules 0.9 Beta 02/04/14 Note: there are interesting abilities in the game that can cause cards from players hands to be swapped in for cards in play – when that happens those new cards do NOT have their abilities activated. This card lets you swap hands with any other player. Super powerful! This ability may only be used by one player per turn. “Drink liquid alcohols.” STINK Stink Beta PNP If the above ability has already been used this turn (of if you want), you can use this ability to swap a RANDOM card from your hand for a RANDOM card from any other player’s hand. Each Monster after you who reveals the named card scores 1 point Pick another player. That player chooses the name of any card (Slime, Scales, Eyes, Stink, Claws, or Teeth). Show all copies of the named card you have in your hand. The player who guessed scores 1 point for each card you show.
