Afton Village Holiday November 30 and Dec. 1, 2012 Step into a winter wonderland when the Afton Area Business Association presents its annual Village Holiday event. Each day features strolling carolers, old-fashioned fun at the Afton Museum and complimentary Horse and Carriage rides to transport guests to all the festive destinations. CANDLELIGHT LIGHT, Fri. Nov. 30, 5 to 8:30 p.m. The village of Afton will “light up” with holiday lights and torches for a romantic evening with festive shopping, discounts, complimentary treats and beverages at Creative Cottage, Baglio’s of Afton, Chelsea Rose Antiques, Squire House Gardens, JJ’s Boutique, and Afton Leather. Guests can also enjoy chair massages at Calla Lily Day Spa, wine tasting at Swirl Wine Shop and food/ drink specials at the Afton House, Sail Away Cafe and CURRENT. Sail Away Café will feature live holiday music and Selma’s has joined the fun by offering complimentary Ginger Cookie S’mores and coffee. FAMILY DAY, Sat. Dec. 1, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Festive fun for the whole family including breakfast and photos with Santa plus frame decorating at the Historic Afton House Inn and lunch with Santa at Sail Away Café. The popular kids stocking promotion returns, where kids can pick up a stocking at Sail Away Café, the Afton House or Selma’s and collect free treats and toys at Afton shops and restaurants. Other kids activities include old-fashioned crafts at Afton Care, cookie decorating at Selma’s Ice Cream Parlour, create a bobber ornament with children’s book author Deborah Jo Larson at CURRENT, free kids craft kits at Creative Cottage plus face painting at the Afton Museum. Squire House Gardens will feature holiday food samples and complimentary mulled wine. Guests can also partake in an Afton Historic Walking Tour (maps at Afton Museum) and listen to live music at Sail Away Café (starts at 6 pm). Finally, St. Mary’s Point Arena will host free open skating from 6:15 to 8:15 pm., and St. Mary’s Church of Basswood Grove will host its annual Taste of Christmas bake sale and craft bazaar. Guests are asked to please bring donations for the 3rd annual Afton/Lakeland Girl Scouts Mitten Tree, located in front of Baglio’s. Items will be donated to Valley Outreach, serving area families in need. Member Announcements The AABA is excited to announce the annual May Fair event has been transformed to Afton Strawberry Festival. The new event, which has been moved to June 22 and 23, will feature fun family activities, great food, an international bazaar and more. Squire House Gardens announce Tea Time Thursdays through Dec. 20.
