Full-time, tenure track Family Medicine faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor or above, depending on experience, are available over the
next two years.
Clinical responsibilities of the positions will include a diversified Family Medicine practice at one of the four St. John’s academic teaching sites. Priority
areas of focus for these positions include low risk maternity and intrapartum care, care of underserved populations including refugees, expertise in
health information technology, and clinical leadership.
Major academic responsibilities include both undergraduate and postgraduate education within the Discipline of Family Medicine and the Faculty of
Medicine. Attainment of tenure and promotion is based upon Faculty of Medicine guidelines related to strong performance indicators in education,
research and leadership, as well as clinical excellence.
An alternate payment package allows for protected time for the expected scholarly activity in education and research. Attainment of an advanced
degree in either research or education is an expected component of the positions being offered.

Division of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine, Department of Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics invites applications for a fifth full time Pediatric Respirologist to join our division of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine at
BC Children’s Hospital, Vancouver, Canada. This position is intended as a junior faculty appointment. The successful candidate will have an MD
(or equivalent) and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) certification in pediatric respiratory medicine.
The respiratory division is the only centre providing pediatric respiratory services for the Province of British Columbia’s roughly 1 million children.
Sub-specialty clinics include: general respiratory medicine, cystic fibrosis, severe asthma, sleep medicine, home ventilation and non-CF bronchiectasis/
immune mediated lung diseases. In addition, the division provides the usual ward care, patient consultation and on-call services associated with any
referral pediatric hospital. All current staff members also place great emphasis on meeting the division’s academic mandate. The provision of high
quality teaching for trainees at all levels, plus productive clinical research output are essential requirements for any applicant.
The full scope of the job description is open to negotiation and, to some extent, will depend on the participant’s past training and areas of
expertise. However, at least one third will be devoted to the care of children with cystic fibrosis. Importance will be placed on candidates with
proven research track records plus the strong inter-personal skills needed to work as part of a busy team. The ability to adapt to new practices will
also be essential as we prepare for the inevitable changes associated with the move to our new hospital scheduled for mid-2017.

St. Paul’s Hospital is a 455-bed tertiary academic hospital located in downtown Vancouver, BC. It is the
largest facility within Providence Health Care and one of the two teaching hospitals in Vancouver Coastal
Health Authority. The laboratory provides support for a wide variety of clinical programs at St. Paul’s Hospital,
including a general clinical hematology service and the provincial adult hemophilia program. It also provides
support for a community hospital and several long term care facilities.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of St. Paul’s Hospital is seeking one full-time and
one part-time hematopathologist, positions available as soon as possible. Applicants must either hold or be
eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Hematologic
Pathology and be eligible for licensure in British Columbia. The laboratory provides an opportunity to work in
multiple areas of hematopathology, including peripheral blood and bone marrow examination, flow cytometry
and specialized coagulation testing. The hematopathologists work closely with both laboratory and clinical
colleagues in a laboratory based on lean principles with state-of-the-art equipment and a team of
knowledgeable, dedicated technical staff.
Experience and interest in special coagulation testing, leadership training or administrative or management
post graduate degree would be considered valuable assets.
Teaching undergraduate medical students and residents is an integral component of this position and
preference will be given to applicants who can provide evidence of current involvement and commitment to
education. The successful candidate will be eligible for a clinical faculty appointment in the Department of
Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
