In 2002, Pope John Paul II introduced the Luminous Mysteries, also known as the Mysteries of Light. Everyone is invited to attend the Morning of Reflection for Parish Ministries on Saturday, November 8. This special event will feature Bishop Emeritus Donald Trautman speaking about the Joy of the Gospel (Gaudium Evangelii). The Joy of the Gospel is a letter from Pope Francis to the bishops, clergy, consecrated persons and the lay faithful on the proclamation of the Gospel in today’s world. The day will begin with Morning Prayer at 8:30 AM and will conclude at noon. Bishop Trautman will give two presentations, each being followed with time for small group sharing and a question and answer period. Refreshments will be available throughout the morning. Many who attended last year's event requested that Bishop Trautman return for another session. Although the Eucharistic Ministers, the readers, the musicians, the ushers and greeters, the altar servers and those who take care of the environment are the obvious parish ministers, everyone who serves in any way has an important ministry. The assembly, of which we are all a part, is the most important ministry of all. Everyone, please come and share in this time for prayer and learning more about our faith. Please plan to attend the Morning of Reflection for an interesting and inspiring look at how the Joy of the Gospel impacts our lives and the life of the modern Church. The 55+ Club meets in the hall this Tuesday at 12:30 PM. Everyone is invited to this monthly luncheon. Just bring a dish to share with everyone - come enjoy lunch and fellowship together. Hope to see you there! SISTER PARISH NOTES OLQA will host its first annual Antorcha Guadalupana 5K Run/Walk on December 13, 2014, in conjunction with our Parish Feast Day celebration. The run will be followed by a special Mass and a Mexican-themed celebration, music and food for all! There will be much more about this in the coming weeks. But for now, if you would like to be involved with the organizing committee for this event, please call Pat Pineo at 382-2407.
