"Rise Above" Weekend Renewal Nov. 7-8 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Lower Sackville. Sponsored by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Pamphlets in church entrance. Prayer to the Holy Family for the Synod Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in you we contemplate the splendour of true love, to you we turn with trust. Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic Churches. Holy Family of Nazareth, may families never again experience violence, rejection and division: may all who have been hurt or scandalized find ready comfort and healing. Holy Family of Nazareth, may the approaching Synod of Bishops make us once more mindful of the sacredness & inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God’s plan. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph graciously hear our prayer. Amen God of all blessings, source of all life, giver of all grace: we thank you for the gift of life, for the breath that sustains life, for the food of this earth that nurtures life, for the life-giving love of family and friends. We thank you for the mystery of creation: for the beauty of the Earth that the eye can see, for the unfolding universe that draws us beyond our imaginings. We thank you for the communities to which we belong: for families, for friends, for neighbors and for companions at work. We thank you for the strangers who welcome us into their lives and whom we invite to be part of ours. We thank you for our brothers and sisters of all ages, all races, all nations and all faiths. We thank you for the multitude of ways that you call us to be stewards of the gifts of creation and to serve others in your name. We thank you for the companionship we share and the bountiful goodness of the bread we break together. God of all goodness, we pray in thanks for your presence among us as we gather together, and your promise to be with us now and always. Pope Francis writes: “Today vast numbers of people still do not know Jesus Christ. For this reason, the mission ad gentes continues to be most urgent. All the members of the Church are called to participate in this mission, for the Church is missionary by her very nature: she was born “to go forth”. World Mission Day is a privileged moment when the faithful of various continents engage in prayer and concrete gestures of solidarity in support of the young Churches in mission lands. It is a celebration of grace and joy. A celebration of grace, because the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father, offers wisdom and strength to those who are obedient to his action. A celebration of joy, because Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, sent to evangelize the world, supports and accompanies our missionary efforts… A monetary contribution on the part of individuals is the sign of a self-offering, first to the Lord and then to others; in this way a material offering can become a means for the evangelization of humanity built on love.” PRAYING WITH JESUS IN THE HOLY LAND with Spiritual Leaders Fr. Morris and Fr. Craig Cameron This Pilgrimage experience is planned for duration of 12 days, April 26-May 7, 2015. If you are interested or just want to know more, plan to attend a special information evening to be held at St. Francis parish center October15th 2014 from 7:00-9:00 pm. Please confirm your intentions to attend or your interest by contacting Bob Sime at (902) 482-2275 or emailing bsime@privatelabeltravel.ca with “keep me informed”. Thank you and God bless.
