The MICEX/ RTS is now falling behind fairly significantly in its use of Social Media (just six companies link to a corporate/IR Twitter account) and in its Careers and CSR content (only a third of companies even have a dedicated Careers section and only three companies have a CSR video). Of the indices scored this quarter, the RTSI’s overall score only beats the PSI 20 – but even here is scoring lower than the PSI 20 for CSR and Careers. The average MICEX/RTS score has continued to improve – and is up by a creditable 3% since the index was last fully scored in Q4 2013 in marked contrast to most other European indices which were generally stagnant. Our latest ranking of the corporate websites and wider digital presence of the MICEX/RTS reveals that 45% of the index saw their scores increase in the last six months – compared to 78% of the index in Q4 2013. Nearly 80% of the index scores below the global average of the nearly 1,400 companies we have scored in the past 12 months. Only Uralkali scores above the FTSE 100 average. The average overall score for the MICEX/RTS is 37% – still some way behind the global average of 45% – and below the averages recorded by all the other indices we score apart from the Portuguese PSI 20 (36%), the Polish WIG 30 (35%) and the Israeli TA-25 (27%). Multimedia and Mobile scores have increased but Social Media, Careers and CSR scores remain low. » Just one MICEX/RTS company is in the top 20% of the 1,400 highest scoring companies globally – but 16 companies fall in the bottom 20%, showing that while there has been considerable improvement, there is still much more to be done However, there were some positives – the index has seen a leap of 46% in average Multimedia scores since Q4 2013. 40% of the MICEX/RTS now webcast their results (compared to 66% of the FTSE 250 and 93% of the FTSE 100) – but to put this into a different context, a year ago just 23% of the MICEX/RTS did so. However, only three companies (Lukoil, Polymetal and Sberbank) do video webcasting. A third of the index now has a corporate video and over 40% has a video gallery – evidence of companies offering a range of video content. » Leading the index on 61%, Uralkali comes 145th in the world and is the 9th best performing chemicals company globally in what is a strong sector (Bayer and BASF come 2nd and 3rd respectively) » NLMK (3rd), Mechel (4th) and Rostelecom (10th) all enter the Top 10, the latter two for the first time » NLMK was both the highest climber, up 18 places from #21, and also showed the biggest increase in its score – thanks to significant improvements in the use of Multimedia and CSR and Corporate Governance content Mobile scores also increased significantly – up by 30% from six months ago but this was from a very low base. Just two companies, ALROSA and Rostelecom, have responsive websites while only a further five have dedicated mobile sites. This low take-up is worrying given that our latest research shows that one in five visits to a corporate site now comes from a mobile device. By contrast over two-thirds of the FTSE 100 provide either a dedicated mobile site or make use of responsive design. » The index’s strongest average score is in Corporate Governance (63%) – but this score is still below the global average of 64% and behind every other index we score regularly except for the FTSE 250 (60%) MICEX/RTS COMPANIES BY CATEGORY USER EXPERIENCE OVERALL CONTENT USABILITY MOBILE MULTIMEDIA SOCIAL MEDIA Uralkali Uralkali Uralkali Uralkali Phosagro Uralkali 61% 70% 64% 61% 44% 35% Gazprom NLMK Gazprom Rostelcom Uralkali Gazprom 54% 67% 57% 56% 40% 35% 3 NLMK Gazprom NLMK VTB Bank Lukoil Mechel 52% 65% 53% 39% 40% 30% MICEX/RTS AVERAGE 37% 47% 39% 7% 20% 8% 1 2 www.investis.com | twitter.com/investis ABOUT INVESTIS AND THE IQ RANKINGS CATEGORY SCORE BY INDEX 20 40 60 80 100 The Investis Quarterly (IQ) benchmarking service allows publicly listed companies to measure the performance of their corporate website against their peers and best practice. Where the overall score is the same, rank has been determined using the Usability score as a secondary measure. As best practice, site content must be available in both Russian and English: for this reason Transneft was not scored in Q2 2014 as the English language version of the site was temporarily unavailable. In addition, five companies have two listings in the index, but they are only scored for the one index: as a result 44 companies are presented here.
