40 Days For Life Pray for an end to abortion this Fall
by participating in the 40 Days For Life. From
September 24-November 2, groups from around the
country will gather and offer prayers in front of places
where the lives of unborn children are taken. Our
local prayer campaign will take place in front of the
Planned Parenthood Metro at 160 S 1000 E, Salt
Lake City. Please prayerfully consider celebrating
Respect Life Month in October by participating. For

The Craft Ladies will be selling raffle tickets for a
king size quilt! They will be selling tickets until the
end of November. The quilt will be displayed out in
the gathering space after mass. The tickets are $1
each or $5 for 6. All proceeds will go to Saint Francis
Xavier.
Monastic Vocations Discernment Retreat. Mount
Angel Abbey invites men who are between 18-45
years of age and are discerning a monastic vocation,
to come join us for a three-day discernment retreat
experience on Friday, October 24th through Sunday,

Wreaths at Mt. Calvary: Mt.Calvary Cemetery is offering
evergreen wreaths to be placed at grave(s) from midDecember to February. Wreaths are beautifully decorated
and handcrafted from balsam fir. Each is mounted on a
36" wire stand for gravesites or tied to crypt fronts. Cost:
25" wreaths for graves and crypts-$30.00; 18" wreaths for
niche fronts, cremorials and baby sites-$26.00. Orders

this year. The Men’s Cursillo weekend is scheduled for
Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 30 - Nov. 2; the women’s Cursillo
is scheduled for Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 6-9. To

Refugee Resettlement Ministry Update
We are currently volunteering with our eighth family. This
is a family of 8 soon to be 9 from the Congo. The kids
range in age from 19 down to a baby due next month.
They are working hard toward independence by getting
jobs and learning English. With a baby boy on the way, the
family could use some supplies. If you are able to donate a

Fall Music Concert: The outstanding Judge Memorial
Music Department will present its Fall Music Concert on

You must pre-register for the baptism preparation
class and baptism in the church office. You must
register no later than Monday before the class and baptism.
The preparation class and baptism are on the same day. The
preparation class starts at 9:15 a.m. in the church followed by
the baptisms. If you are only attending the class there is a
donation of $25.00 per couple, after the class you will receive a
letter of completion. If you are attending the class and
baptizing your child there is a donation of $50.00 for each child.
When registering in the church office, you will need to pay the
donation and bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate. The
next class and baptisms are November 29th. The class starts
at 9:15 am, followed by the baptisms. The deadline to register
is Friday, November 21st . Please be prepared to pay the exact
amount; we do not have change in the Church office.

The St. Francis Xavier School Annual Drive, “Make a
Difference” is underway. We are fortunate to have a
vibrant community that is rich in diversity – ethnically,
socially, and economically. Our diverse population
strengthens our community and unites the parents,
students, administration, faculty and staff with a shared
vision of the morals and values taught at Saint Francis
Xavier. Funds donated during the annual drive will assist
in technology enhancement, facility renovations and tuition
assistance. Please consider donating to the “Make a
Difference” Annual Drive. No investment is too small, and
all donations are tax deductible. If you did not receive an

Fr. Lukasz (Luke) Willenberg is a Chaplain serving with
the Army 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan. One of
the service projects of the St. Francis Xavier CCW is
to send care packages to soldiers in the division
mentioned. Some of the items that are particularly useful:
Food Items-Power bars, granola bars, trail mix, nonperishable beef jerky, tuna fish, hard containers of nuts,
pretzels, cheese crackers, powdered drink mix (anything
to mix with water like sweetened drinks, lemonade,
energy/vitamin mixes), microwavable foods (i.e. ramen in
a cup, Mac n’ cheese in a cup, popcorn, etc.), candy and
gum (no chocolate – it melts).
Personal Care -Items Toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss,
cotton swabs, disposable razors, body wash, lip balm,
lotions, aspirin and pain relievers, individually wrapped
baby wipes, medicated foot powder, athlete’s foot
ointment.
Entertainment-DVDs, batteries, phone cards, and cigars.
Collections at St. Francis Xavier Church from
September 20th through October 19th.
Camouflaged boxes will be placed in the gathering space
for the Saturday and Sunday Masses.
