Worship Expansion!? A Congregational Dialogue
“Worship is not meant to promote an institution, to publicize a program, or to elevate
any person, but to exalt God. Worship is not a self-serving experience but a God-serving
endeavor.”
C.Welton Gaddy, The Gift of Worship
On August 27, Chestnut Grove launched an enthusiastic dialogue to explore
future options for expanding worship capacity at CG. Each week since,
deacons and staff have together pondered the positive and negative factors
related to countless options. We prayerfully and systematically discussed the
following six possibilities:
● Building/leasing a larger worship space
● Launching a new congregation
● Hosting offsite worship “satellites”
● Exporting folks to sister churches
● Posting “No Vacancy” sign
● Reallocating current worship resources
These conversations proceed from very good news-our current Sunday worship gatherings continue to grow
steadily in participation. If historic annual attendance patterns and current growth trends continue, we will
leave too little margin for new worshipers before year’s end.
Our recent worship dialogues have generated fresh ideas and new enthusiasm about what God is doing
among us, and how we might best respond. Please join our deacons and staff for a community-wide
conversation at 7pm Wednesday, October 15. Your input will be vital as we engage a forthcoming
worship expansion experiment.

We are collecting small size toiletries
that will be used by the Salvation
Army and PACEM to share with the
many homeless in our local communities. A new toothbrush, toothpaste, bar of soap, shampoo, deodorant, women’s personal hygiene products
are all small but very effective means of improving the
quality of life many of our neighbors are experiencing.
Collection baskets are located in the Welcome area
through October.
October—Minister
Appreciation Month
October is minister appreciation month!
If you are interested in preparing a
meal for one of our amazing ministers,
please contact Heidi Farr at 964-9323
or hmfarr@hotmail.com Please choose a week in
October that you can bring them a meal, then you will
be assigned a minister. Once notified of your minister,
you can contact them to arrange a time during the
week that fits both of your schedules.
Medical Equipment Drive
Do you have used medical equipment—
gently used walkers, bedside commodes,
wheel chairs, hospital beds, tub/shower
chairs? Donate it to someone in need!
10am-2pm on Saturday, October 11 at
Ruckersville Baptist on Rt. 33, behind CVS. Through
the Recycled Blessings program free medical equipment is provided to those who cannot afford to purchase their own. Our program collects donated used
medical equipment, refurbishes it and redistributes the
item by lending it to those in need, for as long as they
need. Contact us at (434) 882-0135 or at allblessingsflow@yahoo.com for further information.
