The State Legislature’s approval of the historic Transportation Funding in 2013 is still unfolding and bringing unprecedented changes to the Department and the Consultant Industry. This year’s Forum will focus on VDOT’s plan and strategy to successfully and timely deliver new projects with the significant increase in funding. Managing and delivering the Commonwealth’s transportation program has taken on new meaning in the last few years. VDOT’s reliance on the industry to help deliver the transportation program continues to grow with the program. Subsequently new initiatives, policies and strategies to make the processes more efficient are being implemented. Browder, Jr. Memorial Scholarship 2014 James G. Browder, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Winners Register Online - www.vtca.org Early Registration Ends September 26 VTCA’s James G. Browder, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is funded through voluntary contributions of the engineering membership of the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance. The scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in a four-year engineering or related technical program as a full-time undergraduate at an accredited university in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Tyson McClellan of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania attends the Virginia Military Institute where he is pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. At VMI Tyson is a midshipman in the Naval ROTC Program. Throughout high school he was a participant in numerous activities including the golf team, track and field team, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes as well as volunteering in his community. Matthew Ramirez is from Syosset, New York and attends Virginia Tech. He is majoring in Construction Engineering and Management. At Tech he is a member of multiple organizations including the Student Alumni Associate, Ring Design Committee, Campus Crusades for Christ, Galileo Community Program, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and Relay for Life. He also enjoys serving his home community while on school breaks, helping out in soup kitchens and a youth ministry summer program.
