Position Description TEACHER/CO-ORDINATOR OF SENIOR VISUAL ART The School Hillbrook is a co-educational school currently with 600 students from Years 8 -12, expanding to 720 students in 2015 with the addition of our inaugural Year 7 cohort. Duties Teaching classroom Visual Art and Co-ordinator of Senior Visual Art, Years 10-12 and other subjects where applicable. Teaching Area[s] Visual Art. Experience in teaching the QCAA subject Visual Art at Year 11 and 12 is desirable. The ability to teach in another subject area may be advantageous. Department Overview The Art department encompasses Visual Art in Years 11 & 12 and Art in Years 8, 9 & 10, including Year 7 in 2015. The successful applicant will be required to work collaboratively with the Junior Visual Art Co-ordinator 9Years 7-9) to continue the development of these work programs. The Art Department consists of two teachers. Designated facilities for Art include two classrooms, a senior studio, a new sculpture court and darkroom. Computing facilities are also available. The subject maintains high levels of interest and student enrolment throughout the school. A photography competition is an annual highlight. As Subject Co-ordinator of Senior Visual Art the duties and responsibilities include: Providing leadership pedagogy; Working to ensure the highest quality in assessment and evaluation, including the preparation of monitoring and in curriculum development and verification submissions for the QCAA; Working with the School Leadership Team to provide high quality reporting processes; Commencement This position will commence in January 2015 and is a full time contract for 12 months. A willingness to be in communication with the school prior to this date is expected. Essential Competencies and Qualifications The successful applicant will have: A passion for teaching and engaging classroom practice. Exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills. Recognised qualifications in teaching Art. Experience in teaching Senior Visual Art in Queensland. A commitment to the Queensland system of internally moderated, school-based assessment. Registration or the ability to be registered, with the Queensland College of Teachers. It is highly desirable that applicants will have an additional teaching area. Conditions, entitlements and benefits: 1. The position is full-time, 1 year contract. 2. The position is paid in accordance with the Anglican Schools Enterprise Agreement. 3. Personal leave accrues at 10 days per annum. 4. Long Service Leave accrues at the rate of 1.3 weeks for each completed year of service and entitlements accessible after 7 years continuous service. 5. Currently, employer superannuation of 12.75% is available where staff make voluntary contributions of 5%. Employer super is paid in addition to salary.
