ReHaptix is developing tools to facilitate the work
of therapists in the evaluation of upper limb motor
function in patients suffering from a neurological
injury and to satisfy the need for objective outcome
measures required to adapt the therapy most
efficiently to the patient’s level of impairment.

“The Pioneer Fellowship Program helped our research
project to come out of the lab and to mature into a
promising business project”.

rqmicro
rqmicro is developing rapid, quantitative methods
to detect microbial contaminations in water and
food in hours instead of days. During the Pioneer
Fellowship Program, founder Hans-Anton Keserue
and his team are developing a chip-based prototype
and have already started offering service packages
for the detection of Legionella contaminations to first
customers.

“Thanks to the generous support of ETH Zurich, the
rqmicro team will be able to realize its vision of a rapid
detection mechanism for pathogens.”

Distran
The Pioneer Fellows Florian Perrodin and Joel
Busset started development of an acoustic camera
in the Autonomous Systems Lab at ETH Zurich.
An acoustic camera is a set of microphones whose
output is processed simultaneously to produce an
acoustic image. The camera can be used to pinpoint
sound sources in very noisy surroundings – ideal for
detecting malfunctioning equipment in assembly halls
or tiny gas leaks in pipelines.

“The Pioneer Fellowship Program was just what we
needed to bring our idea from lab to market. The
Program has been professionally satisfying for us”.
