Use specific examples, demonstrate your personality Set aside several days (Don’t wait until the last minute!! Write at least 2 drafts, before finalizing Have someone proofread it! Talk to your son/daughter about their plans for the future Attend college fairs and research individual colleges of your child’s interest. Get organized: Suggest to your child to dedicate a folder to each college with a checklist of required materials and their due dates. Brainstorm together: Ask your child about the activities and awards he/she is most proud of and why they matter. Make a list to highlight special strengths. Get Letters of Recommendation from people who know your child and can create a fuller picture of your child.
