It was just the beginning and she has returned many times since to continue making images. Figures and Faces 15 November – 9 December This exhibition looks at the many styles of portraits and figures in the Lillie’s permanent collection. A portrait can be an artist’s representation rather than a photographic image; it can be the whole figure or just the face. It can capture the sitter’s personality or their mood. A portrait can also illustrate more than one person. This collection reflects her perspective of Iona and the developing relationship with the island that she has made through her photography. It includes intimate landscape imagery of patterns in the sand, fleeting moments of light on wave and the sculptural form and colour of Iona’s ancient rocks as well as the bigger view of an island in its differing moods from dawn to dusk.
