07/10/2014 EUROPEAN COMMITTEE ON CRIME PROBLEMS (CDPC) INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON URBAN VIOLENCE PRACTICAL INFORMATION 23-24 October 2014 Lisbon, Portugal DATE AND PLACE The International Conference on Urban Violence will take place in the New Building of the Policia Judiciária, starting at 9h00 on Thursday 23 October, and closing at 12h30 on Friday 24 October 2014. Address : Novo Edifício da Polícia Judiciária Rua Gomes Freire, 174 1169-007, Lisbon Portugal WORKING LANGUAGES The working languages of the Conference will be English, French and Portugese with simultaneous interpretation. INSCRIPTION Each participant in the Conference has to register using the online registration form: www.coe.int/Lisbon2014. Fontes Pereira de Melo, 8 1069-310 Lisbon Portugal Tel.: + 351 210 064 300 A) PARTICIPANTS COVERED BY THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE The participants whose costs are covered by the Council of Europe will benefit from accommodation at the Sana Lisboa Hotel for two nights (from the 22 to 23 October). In the case where the return journey cannot be taken until the 24 October, the Council of Europe will cover an extra night at the hotel. However the daily allowances will be reduced in conformity with the Rules for reimbursement of the Council of Europe. Please note that the extra hotel costs (for example telephone calls, dry cleaning, mini bar etc.) will be borne by the occupant of the room. The accommodation compromises of a double bedroom for individual use with breakfast included. The participants who wish to have a double bedroom for two people should indicate this in the online registration form. b) PARTICIPANTS NOT COVERED BY THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE The accommodation for participants who are not covered by the Council of Europe should be guaranteed, on request to the Sana Lisboa Hotel (subject to their availability). The hotel is a 12 minute walk from the New Building of the Policia Judiciára. 3 TRAVEL TO/FROM Portugal The travel costs of the participants covered by the Council of Europe will be supported by the Council of Europe in conformity with the rules of the Council of Europe. The Secretariat of the Council of Europe will organise prepaid electronic tickets. The participants who prefer to organise their travel themselves are asked to do it in the most economical manner possible. Please take note that travel costs will only be reimbursed by a bank transfer after the Conference on presentation of documentary proof of the total sum paid: If an invoice is supplied, it has to be the original document delivered by the travel agency or Airline Company. In the case of the purchase of an electronic ticket, a confirmation of the online reservation which gives the total cost of the ticket has to be supplied, as well as proof of payment (invoice, credit card receipt, monthly bank statement or from the internet). The proof of spending and the relevant travel ticket (plane, train, etc.) has to be attached to the completed request for a reimbursement. If the journey is made by car, the travel costs will be reimbursed under article 6 of the Rules of reimbursement. TRANSPORT TO/FROM THE AIRPORT Lisbon airport is situated 7km from the town centre. Transfer from the airport will not be organised by the organisers. The hotel and the place of the Conference can be reached by train, bus or taxi. All the necessary services for transfer from the airport are situated at the exit of the airport. Maps are available on the Airport website (only in English, French and Portuguese). a) Train At the exit of the airport, follow the railway symbol and take the Red line in the direction of São Sebastião, and get out at the Vermelha stop to change onto the Yellow line in the direction of Rato. Then get off at the stop Marquês de Pombal. Trains are in circulation from 06h30 until 01h00. The estimated journey time towards the historic centre : 4 minutes. A one-way ticket costs 1,40€. The Marquês de Pombal station is close to the hotel (a seven minute walk). 4 b) Bus There are a number of buses which go from the airport and which serve the hotel. You can take bus n°783 towards Amoreiras and get off at Marquês de Pombal, and also bus n°744 in the direction of Marquês de Pombal and get off at the same stop. On-board, a ticket without any changes costs 1,80 €. The buses circulate from 05h30 until around 1h. The timetables are shown at each stop (paragem). But pay attention, the bus circuit is not stated on the inside of the bus. It is also possible to take the Aerobus 1. This is a line which leaves from the airport and stops immediately in front of the hotel. This service leaves every 20 minutes from 07h00 until 23h00 and costs 3€50. You can buy tickets at the airport. c) Taxi Taxis are found outside of the airport. It costs between 12 and 20€ to get to the hotel by this means of travel. VISAS The participants are warmly invited to verify (in English and Portuguese) if they need a visa for Portugal. The participants who do need a visa have to ask for a support letter for their visa from the Secretariat of the Council of Europe by filling out this form. Please note that you will still need to follow the procedure indicated by your Consulate. 5 MEALS One meal will be covered by the Council of Europe in the Canteen of the Policia Judiciára for the international participants. Please note your dietary requirements in your registration form. Please also note that in consequence your daily allowance will be reduced. INSURANCE Certain specific travel risks are covered by an insurance policy CHARIS (number 2.004.761), which offers cover to people until their 76th birthday. The telephone help line CHARTIS 24 hour assistance can be called if needed: (32) 3 253 69 16. It is not necessary to take out an additional insurance policy and such a policy will not be reimbursed by the Council of Europe. CURRENCY EXCHANGE There are a number of currency exchanges in the departure hall and in arrivals. The airport also has a number of automated tele machines (ATMs).
