Thank you for your wonderful support these past 28 years. In this Sunday’s Gospel we find the truth that loving God isn’t merely a matter of fervor in our hearts, but that it must be expressed in doing good for the sake of others. This month, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to show that we indeed love our neighbors by assisting families in providing food, help with utility and rent bills, etc. Thank you! A parishioner writes, “We thank God today and every day for every religious sister who taught us in school, not only our ABCs, but also to love God.” Share your gratitude for the senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests who made a positive difference in so many lives. Please give generously to next week’s collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious. As you may have heard, we are going to renovate the kitchen downstairs. The monies are being provided through the generosity of two donors, the amount being in the area of $50,000. The kitchen will include a total renovation of the existing range and hood and fire suppression system. We will be installing two fryers (four baskets), a 36 inch range with six burners, and a convection oven. The biggest expense will be bringing the current exhaust and fire suppression units up to code. Kaemmerlen is doing the installation. It will require a total redoing of the existing duct work. It is scheduled to begin at the end of this month. These monies for renovation were not part of our initial budgeting and additional cost such as the installation of new lighting, painting, removal of the existing platform plus the buying of some new equipment such as a pancake griddle which were not included. Anyone wishing to make a donation would be most appreciated. The donation can be made directly to the parish. Additionally, the Knights of Columbus, who will be involved in this restoration, are offering their assistance by way of having for sale hand-crafted wooden cutting boards and rosaries. These make unique holiday gifts. The items will be on display after Mass next weekend. Order forms will be available. Profits go to the renovation. Thank you for your support and generosity. Fr. Dan Save the date: The Knights will also host wine and cheese fundraisers at the school, with tours of the kitchen on Thurs., Nov. 6 from 6 to 8pm and on Sat., Nov. 8 after 5pm Mass to 7pm . We regret that due to a wedding rehearsal out of town Halloween night, we will not be available for Trick or Treating at the rectory this year. Are you looking for a way to jump start a waning spiritual life, or deepen one that is already going well? Then you might enjoy going on an ACTS Retreat. A group of parishioners from Ste. Gen have met and are prayerfully discerning, along with Msgr. Mosley, about the possibility of bringing ACTS retreats to Ste. Gen in the fall and/or winter of 2015. An ACTS retreat weekend is a lay-led, Catholic retreat experience presented by fellow parishioners that brings people to a better understanding of God’s love for them. It is a powerful community building experience that results in a new or renewed dedication to the life of the parish community. Separate retreats are held for men and women. A minimum of five men and five women from Ste. Gen who have previously attended an ACTS retreat must be willing to commit to serving on the initial team. This initial team will be supported in giving the Ste Gen ACTS Retreat by experienced ACTS team member from other parishes. These volunteers are men and women whose lives and parishes have been so blessed by the ACTS Retreat that they want to help other parishes benefit from ACTS too. Note that a few more Ste. Gen men are needed who are willing and able to commit to being on team. Please join in praying for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in the discernment process.
