Many children on the autism spectrum and those having difficulty with social cues and appropriate behaviors are welcome to attend these wonderful monthly sessions. This has become a meaningful offering for our community and God's fingerprint is evident on what we are providing not only to the children with special needs, but their parents and families. This is an opportunity for students to make friends, learn appropriate social cues and behaviors, all in an environment of fun and support. At the same time, parents receive much needed respite and siblings have opportunities separate from the intense shadow of care required by their special needs brother or sister. Peer mentors work alongside certified teachers and a behavior specialist during dinner, games, and activities. Groups are divided by gender as well as age and ability level to maximize learning opportunities. (Program is extensive ranging from non-verbal through high functioning.) Space is limited.
