Freedom High School National Honor Society News
The Freedom High School National Honor Society is pleased to announce the
acceptance of 118 juniors and seniors to our chapter. This is the largest group in
FHS history. The induction ceremony will take place in the FHS auditorium at 6:30
PM on Wed., 11/12. Rob Thomas, FHS ‘78, will deliver the keynote address. There
will be a reception for our new members following the ceremony in Cafeteria Right.
Liberty High School to honor former football videographer on Friday
LHS will hold a ceremony to honor the late John W. “Jack” Guidon during the
halftime game on Friday, October 24, against Central Catholic at Bethlehem

Fountain Hill is Celebrating #Socktober
Fountain Hill Elementary is now participating in #Socktober. We are starting a sock
drive as a way to give back to the community that has always given so much to us.
Could you believe that an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets? That is not
OK! Kid President inspired us by reminding us that even the smallest act of love
can make a big difference. For the next month, we will be collecting NEW socks and
donating them to The Bethlehem Emergency Homeless Shelter. If you would like to
donate socks, please send them to Fountain Hill Elementary School. If at this time
you cannot donate socks, please help by sharing this message and getting the word
out to all communities! Remember to #Socktober to really get the word out!

Governor Wolf PTA has partnered up with the Kiffle Kitchen Bakery to bring you
and your families some yummy Thanksgiving Day treats! This fundraiser will run

BASD Mini-Thon Fall Fundraiser
Throughout the month of October, Unangst Tree Farm will team up with the BASD
Mini-Thon for our Fall FUNdraiser. The farm will donate 10% of profits when you

Thursday, October 30, 2014 – The School Reform Debate: Is there Common
Ground?
The School Reform Debate: Is there Common Ground is presented by Dr. Gary M.
Sasso, Dean, College of Education, Lehigh University. The event will take place on
October 30 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the Sinclair Lab Auditorium. Registration

Friday, October 31, 2014 – Fall Spirit Day at Thomas Jefferson
The students and staff at Thomas Jefferson Elementary will be participating in Fall
Spirit Day. Students from Liberty High School’s fall sports teams, cheerleaders,
band members and Big Brothers and Big Sisters will come to TJ and participate in
a pep rally to support the Liberty High School versus Freedom High School football
game that is being played on Saturday November 1st. The event is being held to
promote public education. All of the students from Thomas Jefferson will attend
Liberty High School.
Sunday, November 2, 2014 – National Brain Tumor Walk “Race for Hope”
The National Brain Tumor Walk “Race For Hope” is November 2, in Philadelphia.
This our 4th annual walk. Deb Williams and family and friends are walking in
memory of her husband Bill Williams. Bill coached girls basketball at Freedom
High School for several years. Please check out Race For Hope Philadelphia on the

Thursday-Sunday, November 6-9, 2014 – FHS Theatre Presents Curtains
This multi-Toni Award winning musical comedy is a parody of the 1950s
“whodunit” theater mysteries, where a lone Boston police detective investigates a
series of murders that have taken place behind the scenes of a fictional 1950s
cowboy musical, “Robbin Hood.” The cast and crew are forced to stay inside the
theater while the detective unravels the mystery, getting involved with the show and

Tuesday, November 11, 2014 – Hanover Celebrates Veterans Day
Hanover Elementary School will be honoring local veterans at its annual Veteran's
Day Celebration on November 11, 2014. The festivities will begin at 9:30 A.M.
Representative Marcia Hahn will be attending the celebration honoring the
veterans, as well as Liberty High School Brass Ensemble and Liberty High School
Bagpipers. Hanover Singers will also lead the school in song in order to celebrate
our local heros. Please join us as we honor those who keep our country safe and
make us proud to be Americans!

Bethlehem Pennsylvania Earl E. Schaffer Municipal Ice Rink
The City of Bethlehem features the only outdoor Olympic sized ice rink in the LV.
2014-2015 Season is November 14-March 21. Session, fees, passes and additional

Bethlehem Public Library Events
Children who need practice reading are paired with gentle dogs who love to listen
at the Read to Dogs program at the Bethlehem Area Public Library, 11 W. Church

FREE Health and Wellness Clinic
There will be a FREE Health and Wellness Clinic on one Saturday of each month of
the school year at Broughal Middle School Family Center FREE to all uninsured
