for Undergraduate Admission (Degree Seeking)
You must return the following items to Washington State University to be considered for admission.

www.international.wsu.edu; paper applications are
accepted only under specific circumstances. Contact
WSU International Programs for more information.

$50 (U.S.) Application Fee: You will be required to pay
the nonrefundable application fee while completing your
online application. If you submit your application by mail,
you will be required to pay the application fee in the form
of check or money order drawn from a U.S. bank and made
out to Washington State University.
❏
English Language Proficiency: Submit official results
of the TOEFL, IELTS or other approved English proficiency
examination. To determine if you are eligible for a waiver
of the examination requirement, please read the English
proficiency information on our webpage:
www.international.wsu.edu or contact us.

Certificate of Finances: This is required if you plan to
attend WSU on a F-1 or J-1 visa. The Certificate of Finances
and bank letter must provide proof of finances (money) to
cover the amount of tuition and fees in U.S. dollars for the
first academic year of study. The bank letter cannot be older
than six months from the date of application. (If applying
to the Global Campus, the Certificate of Finances is
not required.)

Passport: Submit a copy of the identity page of your
passport or national identification card. If you will be
accompanied by dependents (wife, husband, or child) you
must provide a copy of each person’s passport identity
page or national identification card. (Not required for
admission to the Global Campus)

Foreign Credential Evaluation: The student must
provide complete, official academic records from secondary
(equivalent to high school education in the U.S.) and
post-secondary schools. Records should include courses
taken, grades received, and degrees or certificates earned.
Secondary school transcripts (equivalent to high school
education in the U.S.) if not originally in English must be
translated into English. Post-secondary school transcripts
must not only be translated into English, but also must be
evaluated for U.S. credit.
The WSU Office of International Programs will perform
a credential evaluation for you. You must send official
translated and original documents to our office. For more

what, why, and how long you would like to study at
Washington State University. (Required only for nondegree-seeking international students.) If you choose to
change from non-degree-seeking status to degree-seeking
status, you must complete an admission application
as a degree-seeking international student. Non-degree
students are required to enroll in a full-time course of study.
(Required only for international students who have F-1 or
J-1 student status.)
*You are regarded as a non-degree seeking student if you
take regular University courses but do not intend to receive
(nor will you receive) a degree from the University.

Washington State University requires that all F-1 and J-1 visa status applicants provide verification of finances (money) in the amount of $43,500 (U.S.
dollars) or greater through any combination of personal or sponsored funding. This amount is the estimated total tuition and expenses for one year of
academic study. (Note: Verification of finances is not required for admission to the Global Campus.)
• If you the student will provide funding from personal funds, a bank letter with sufficient funding for at least one year’s total cost is required, along with
this form. The bank letter must be in English and clearly detail the account owner and available funds.
• If a family or other personal sponsor will provide funding, a bank letter with sufficient funding for at least one year’s total cost is required, along with this
form verifying sponsorship. The bank letter must be in English and clearly detail the account owner and available funds.
• If an employer, government, or organization will provide funding, a signed financial guarantee letter from the sponsor detailing amounts and length of
sponsorship is required. This form can accompany the guarantee letter from the sponsor, but not replace it.
All personal bank and sponsor letters must be dated within six months from the date of application to the university.
Please understand that you are responsible for all payments to the university, even if you are sponsored by your family, government, or other agency.
