FreedomPop’s Connect2Compete program uses
Clear’s 4G mobile internet. They offer 1gb/mo of
mobile home internet totally free (you must purchase a modem for $49) or 10gb/mo for $10. Both
plans include no contract, free text and email alerts
when your monthly data cap is approaching, and free
“auto-off ” if your monthly data cap is met. They
also offer USB modems for $20 which come with
500mb/mo free internet, or one can buy 2gb for
$18/mo. They offer mobile hotspots for $30, which
come with 300mb/mo free internet, or one can buy
2gb for $20/mo. There is a $10 shipping charge for
all modems. Anyone who lives in a pre-qualified
low-income zip code or is referred by of a partnering
agency (like Solid Ground) is automatically eligible.

for the last 90 days. You cannot have an overdue
CenturyLink bill or unreturned equipment.
The first bill will include charges for the first full
month of service billed in advance, prorated charges
for service from installation to bill date, $20 activation
fee, and laptop purchase (if applicable). Faster speeds
are also available as part of the program, such as up
to 7mbps for $15 a month, or up to 12mbps for $20
a month, plus $2 per month broadband recovery fee.
After one year, monthly rates increase by $5 a month
and a $7 per month modem rental
fee is charged (unless you buy
your own modem).

Subsidized Internet Programs
If you need assistance paying for broadband
internet service, there are four programs that
may be able to help. All offer high-speed internet for around $10 a month, and some also
offer a laptop computer $150 or less.

With help from these programs, you should
be able to do anything you want to do online,
including email, homework, sharing photos,
job searches, paying bills, watching videos,
downloading music and more.
Comcast Internet Essentials
With Comcast Internet Essentials, low-income
families can get cable internet for $10 per month.
To qualify, you must meet ALL of the following:
● You have not subscribed to Comcast Internet
service within the last 90 days.
● You do not have outstanding Comcast debt that is
less than one year old.
● You have at least one child who is eligible for the
National School Lunch Program (even if they are
home-schooled, or in private or parochial school).
If you have outstanding debt to Comcast that
is older than one year old, you may still be eligible for Internet Essentials, and can have your debt
forgiven through Comcast’s amnesty policy (you
must apply by phone if you have Comcast debt).
