MAD FOR STYLE 11.06.14
We are humbled by the generosity of our long-time friends and newfound supporters who
demonstrate an appreciation of our work, a commitment to the arts, and the desire to make
good things happen in Westmoreland County. Such support is greatly appreciated as we move
into our 10th Annual Runway Fashion Show ~ Mad for Style. This year’s fundraising event will be
held on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at the Greensburg Garden & Civic Center, 951 Old Salem
Road, Greensburg, PA. The theme is based on the TV series ‘Mad Men’ and the 1960s.
Mad for Style is sure to be a fashionably fun evening with champagne bubbly, signature cocktails,
chance auction action and fab finger food prepared by Sun Dawg Cafe. Mrs. Pennsylvania United
States 2013, Mary Brennan, will be our gracious emcee for the evening. Miss Teen Pennsylvania
2014, Julianna Franzino, a student at Greensburg Salem, will be joining our models on the
runway. Following the runway event, attendees will gather to sample delectable desserts while
enjoying an opportunity to do some early holiday shopping at our merchant emporium.

13th Annual Bocce nel Giardino
It’s Bocce, It’s Italian and it was on August 23rd,
2014, at the Greensburg Garden & Civic Center.
Close to 200 attendees gathered to enjoy a casual
evening of bocce, food and fun for our 13th Annual
Bocce nel Giardino fundraising event. The weather
cooperated and the sun was shining throughout
the evening’s festivities.
Italian themed décor with red & white checkered
tablecloths, red, green and white accents, flags and
beautifully arranged fresh flowers decorated the
tables thanks to Joan Stairs and Diane and Sarah
Reintgen. The music lent hand to the theme with
Sinatra sounds playing in the background.
The food, prepared by Rizzo’s Malabar Inn, was
superb. The hors d’oeuvres included an incredible
display of Italian Antipasto, cheese, bread and fresh
fruits. The Italian buffet included chicken piccata,
cheese tortellini tossed in alfredo sauce, a carved
turkey breast station, eggplant parmigiana, Italian
steamed mixed vegetables, red roasted potatoes
and a salad bar. The desserts were plentiful and
were graciously donated by local restaurants and
bakeries in the area including: A&B Mix it Up,
Aroma Italiano, Aunt Anna’s Biscotti (Sunset Café),
Dainty Pastry, Eat’n’Park, Foodarama, Francesca’s
Cakery, Happy Camper Bakery, Herbalicious, Long’s
Catering, Market Street Pastries, Spinola’s Bakery
and The Cupcake Shoppe. A special thanks to Dick
Flock for transporting the surplus food to the Union
Mission in Latrobe.
The silent auction featured an array of local
treasures. Thank you to all of the individuals and
businesses contributing items for the auction. You
helped to make the evening a great success.
Forty-two bocce teams were entered into the
competition this year. Due to the incredible turn
out, the first round of the competition began at
5:15pm and progressed throughout the evening
culminating in the 9:45pm championship match.
We congratulate our champions, Casey Krytzer
and Rob Stauffer, who defeated Don Morrison
and Bill McCabe with a score of 10-5. The crowd
gathered courtside to cheer on their teams for the
Championship finals. It was a very exciting match!
The success of such an event is due to the
tremendous efforts of the Trust’s Bocce Volunteer
Committee co-chaired by Lyn Emrick and Magdelyn
Vale. From invitations to programs to silent auction
and décor, the bocce committee members achieved
great success. It is with sincere appreciation that

The Abilene Band – June 5: Summer got
off to a great start with country music group
The Abilene Band. Herb Humphreys, Keith
Taylor and Larry Miller reunited and welcomed
newcomer Tim Burkhart into the group. First
time guest bartenders were Jennifer Altimore
and Jon Amundson from Kennametal. They
came in ready to win the Bartender Challenge.
Caffe Barista returned this year with a delicious
summer menu including an incredible dessert
assortment.
Detention - June 26: The weather finally perked
up this week, and our dynamic teacher/musical
duo returned with a potted plant raffle and some
relaxing music, including many radio favorites.
Jane DeBone and Mandi O’Leary are teachers by
day and ‘rock stars’ by night! Salon Deva stylists
Sara Spino and Barry Ciccarelli and friend Niki
Detrick were on hand to serve the spirits!
Bad Boy Blues Band – July 17: Our favorite
bad boys were back… Bob, Vinnie, Dave and
Ned brought their years of musical experience
to the table and the fans to back it. Dave & Dixie
Leonard, guest bartenders, scooped up 1st Place
for Attendance and 2nd Place Overall in the
Bartender Challenge. This was the largest crowd
of the summer! Oh, what a night!
Jeff Perigo & Friends - August 7: Musical talent
runs in the Perigo family and with their friends,
too! The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the vocals
and various sounds that each member added to
the mix. Sean Cassidy and Libby Jones continue
to hold 1st Place for bringing in the greatest Bar
Revenue and Tips. They were presented with their
1st Place plaques for winning last year’s Bartender
Challenge that evening. Sean also entertained the
troops with his incredible Elvis impersonations.
‘Thank you, thank you very much.’
The Black Magic Band – August 28: 60s and
70s Classic Rock cover band that also rocked
the house with some Country tunes. Their fans,
including members of Love Bettie, did not want
this night to end. A special thanks to the Seton
Hill Track & Field Coaches that got behind the
bar to support the Trust. We gave their arms a
workout!

Powerage(d) – June 12: Due to rain, we were
forced to move indoors to the comfort of our
Megan’s Suite, but that didn’t stop Powerage(d)
and their powerful classic rock & roll. Larry, David
and Luke Zajdel had the Megan’s Suite rockin’!
Thank you to The Visionaries of CFWC, Zach Huth,
Mike Reese, Jenn Tinsman and Michael Quatrini
for lending a hand at the bar.
Gashouse Annie – June 19: Country music
lovers were treated to the sweet sounds of
the Gashouse Annie Trio in the comfort of our
Megan’s Suite. Our Hollywood Party at The Palace
co-chairs, Dawna Saunders and Peg Colosimo,
swapped hats and tended bar for the night.
Darryl & Kim – July 3: The Trust was excited to
welcome back the superb sounds of husband
and wife, Darryl & Kim. Their Classic R&B, Soul,
Pop and Motown hit list is always a favorite with
the TGIS crowd. New to TGIS bartending were
Jeff Pope & Paula Hill of Pittsburgh East Animal
Hospital which is a NEW business located in the
Gabriel Brother’s Shopping Plaza. Thank you
both for supporting the Trust.
The Bricks – July 10: Acoustic rock band The
Bricks returned again with their great sound and
incredibly tight harmonies. Tim and Sam started
the trend to pack the house. Rob & Lisa from
Lupi & Leo’s, first time guest bartenders, had their
hands full with a packed house.
Hamilton Ave - July 18: Acoustic classic rock was
back featuring Tim Bush on vocals/guitar, Mike
Scimmi on bass/vocals and Tom Pastor on drums/
vocals. Hamilton Ave delighted their fans and
acquired new fans on the scene. Danielle ShafferWhite and Cindy Strayer came in 3rd Place in our
Bartender Challenge for both Attendance and
Total Bar Revenue.
Gary Pratt - July 31: Gary Pratt brought his
“country with a KICK” including his FANtastic
country line dancers to boot! This was the second
largest crowd in attendance this year, with guests
pouring out onto the sidewalk. Bartenders Lyn
Emrick and Connie Garrison geared up and came
in 2nd Place for Attendance. The beverages were
flowing…the boots were scooting!
Just Mr. Jones - August 14: Carl Jones is an
acoustic guitar musician based out of Ligonier.
His acoustic mix of pop, rock, country and more
from the 50s through today entertained us
throughout the evening. Cindy Strayer & Missy
Smeltz were a dynamic duo behind the bar,
adding another layer of fun, laughs and good
times! Especially the laughs…if you know Missy!
Sugar Mountain - August 21: It’s like Hank
Williams and Bob Wills met up with Gregg Allman
and Jerry Garcia in New Orleans, during Mardi
Gras. Sugar Mountain was back dishing up some
Country, Blues & Rock for their guests. Kevin &
Jeanie Bock from Integrity Retirement & Estate
Advisors were behind the bar and ready to serve!
The Loyal Hanna Band – September 4: And the
crowd goes ‘COUNTRY’. The Loyal Hanna Band
brought their high-energy country sounds with
a touch of rock & blues. A packed house enjoyed
this warm evening and guest bartenders from
Seyler-Berkebile Marriage & Family Therapy kept
things cool.
Neon Swing X-perience – September 11: And
what an X-perience they gave us. If you weren’t
up dancing, your toes were definitely tapping.
Even our guest bartenders and volunteers from
CASA of Westmoreland had a skip in their step.
An incredible way to round out our summer
series.
