Silent Retreat Theme: The Beatitudes
Regular Silent Retreats
This year’s sessions for the regular retreats will focus on the
version of the Beatitudes in Luke’s Gospel (see front cover).
These 40 hour silent retreats are a time of inspiration,
reflection and healing based on the Judaeo-Christian
traditions and Scriptures.
All our regular weekend retreats (and some two-day
midweek retreats) are organized through the generous
service of Captains and Co-Captains who volunteer to
register Retreatants. Reservations for these retreats are
made with the Captains or Co-Captains whose names,
phone numbers, and email addresses appear inside this
brochure. All phone numbers are Calgary unless otherwise
stated. You may register with any captain or co-captain of a
particular retreat. Your registration with the captain or
co-captain is your confirmation. If you wish to cancel,
please contact the Captain Immediately. These retreats
begin with check-in on Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
with supper at 7:00 pm. Silence begins with the first session
after supper. Eucharist is celebrated on both Saturday and
Sunday and a Reconciliation Service during the retreat.
The retreat ends at noon with lunch on Sunday.
The Serenity twilights usually take place on the first
Wednesday and Thursday of each month. The theme for
this series is “Staying Serene.” To register please phone
403-932-2012 or email mtfrancis@shaw.ca a few days
before the date.
Costs
Over the past 65 years, the generosity of so many people has
enabled The Mount to continue its ministry. We are keeping
the cost at $185 for our regular weekend retreats, $90 for an
individual 24-hour retreat, $25 for twilight or an individual
day retreat that includes one meal (individual room by
request is extra) and $110.00 per day for 6-day retreats.
An income tax receipt is issued for donations of $20.00 or
more above our costs. Please do not let cost deter you from
a needed retreat. Please contact our office for other
bookings and costs in our 46 room facility.
Retreat gift certificates are available through the office.

To book for regular silent retreats, please register with one
of the captains listed in the brochure for the retreat you
wish to attend. For any of the other retreats, phone the
office at 403-932-2012 or email mtfrancis@shaw.ca.
If assistance is required for transportation, please
contact the retreat centre.

Our outstanding kitchen staff prepares all meals at the
Mount, providing an experience of deliciously wholesome
dining. If you have special dietary requirements please

Mission Statement
Mount St. Francis is a retreat centre set apart in the
foothills of the Rocky Mountains where all are welcome in
the name of Christ. The Franciscan Friars of Western
Canada, inspired by the vision and example of Saints
Francis and Clare of Assisi, in collaboration with the
Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary and many other loyal
supporters, have served in this spiritual centre of peace,
healing, and prayer since its foundation in 1949.

Midweek Twilight Retreats (Evenings)
Various groups (church and other) are welcome to arrange
for a meditative evening (6:00 - 9:30 pm). Registration is
at 6:00 pm with supper at 6:30 pm. Our program consists
of a reflective talk given at 7:30 pm followed by a silent
meditation, and a closing ceremony. You are welcome to
bring your own facilitator and/or program if you so wish.

Saint Elizabeth Place is used for group meetings and seminars
(10-15 people). It accommodates overnight guests as well.
Serenity Weekend and Twilight Retreats
These retreats focus especially on the spirituality of the 12step program. However anyone is welcome. (see back page)
Individual Silent Retreats
The Mount is also available for individuals who seek
a time of silent reflection and prayer. If you so desire,
appointments with a retreat team member may be made
prior to your stay.
For those who wish a longer time for prayer and reflection
in our peace-filled, pastoral setting, each summer the
Mount hosts two longer retreats. A directed retreat is
scheduled for July 28 - August 3, 2014, a preached retreat is
scheduled for June 22-28, 2015 and a directed retreat July
27 - August 2, 2015. These retreats begin on Monday with
supper and conclude Sunday with brunch.
