Scope of the workshop Theme: Recent Trends in Thermoelectric Materials : Fundamentals to Applications December 1515-17, 2014 Venue: CSIR--National Physical Laboratory CSIR New Delhi, India Jointly organized by: CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, India & Michigan State University, USA Sponsored by Indo-US Science and Technology Forum This is the second Indo-US workshop on “Thermoelectrics”, being organized jointly by CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, India and Michigan State University, USA and is sponsored by Indo-US Science and Technology Forum. The first workshop was held at IIT, Mumbai, India during January 30 February 1, 2012. As is evident from its theme, this second Indo-US workshop would focus on fundamentals and applied research in the area of thermoelectric materials and their devices. Effective solutions to the major challenges, currently inhibiting the use of thermoelectric devices for energy generation, which include enhancement of the thermoelectric conversion efficiency (figure of merit) and the use of cost-effective and non-toxic materials, will be deliberated upon in this proposed workshop. Most of the renowned scientists and technologists in this area of thermoelectric research, both from USA and India, have shown keen interest in actively participating in this proposed workshop, which will act as a good platform for mutual interactions amongst the participants of the two countries and may result in mutually beneficial bilateral collaborations.
