PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Master Planning
Michael Taylor, our architect commissioned to develop the School Master plan, has now gathered
preliminary information from staff and School Council and members of the Buildings and Grounds
Committee and Education Committee. It would be appreciated if parents could give their feedback or
suggest improvements/changes by clicking here to complete a questionnaire. This will then round off this
initial consultation phase.
Building Works Update
The Performing Arts area is progressing well. Framing for the instrumental music rooms has started. The
large roller door entrance to the old drama room has been in filled. Internal wall cladding has been installed
and the old music office extended as the first stage to make it into storage and change area.
Year 12 Graduation Evening
The Year 12 graduation evening was
conducted at Caulfield race course last
Friday. I know that the parents
thoroughly enjoyed the evening and it
was a great send off for the students.
I would like to thank Mrs Craig and the
Parents, Teachers, Students and
Friends Association for all of their hard
work in organising the evening.
7-9 Courses for 2015
All of the 2015 years 8 to 10 student course selections have been processed and information tallied to
enable our timetable to be developed for next year.
I would like to thank Mr Langdon for his work in this important area.
Course confirmation interviews with parents and students are scheduled to begin on 18 November.
Curriculum Day Monday
I would like to remind our school community that Monday 3 November is a curriculum day. Students are not
required to attend.
Year 7-10 Exams
I would like to congratulate all Year 7 to 10 students for their approach and application during their
examinations. Teachers will be assessing papers over the next week and providing feedback to each
student.
The year is not over yet though! I know that teachers have developed materials and units of work to
continue right up until the Head Start and end of year programs. These units contribute significantly to the
overall grades and our exams were deliberately placed in October to facilitate quality time to learning.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
EXAMS
Year 7-10 exams have begun with VCE exams commencing this week. It is a very busy time for all.
It’s great to see so many prepared students coming to exams (often early).
Best of luck for the rest of your exams!
VCE REFURBISHMENT
Our Senior Study Centre is being refurbished after the VCE exams. As a result, we have moved everything
out of that area, including the senior sub school staff who have been relocated to D2. If you wish to speak
to Helen Gogos, Deirdre Craig, Dean Korlos or Dawn Ross, you can find them there.
ACTING STUDENT WELLBEING COORDINATOR
I would like to congratulate Rebecca Parker on being appointed Acting Student Wellbeing Coordinator
while I undertake the role of Acting Assistant Principal during Mr Greg Morrow’s absence. If you need to
speak to her, she is located at the Wellbeing Office or you can call the school on 9803 5144.
IMMUNISATIONS
The 2015 immunisation forms for this year’s Yr 7, 8 and 9 students have been sent home. They need to be
returned to the General Office or Sick bay ASAP. If you have misplaced your form, please see the General
Office.
ALSO, the last of the 2014 immunisation boosters will be given to the Year 7 and the Yr 9 boys on Friday
November 7th.
Caroline Leavey
Acting Assistant Principal
REMINDER TO BACKUP ACADEMIC REPORTS
Access to Compass ceases as soon as a student exits the school (including exiting Year 12 students). This
means that on-line access to Academic Reports also stops at the same time.
In order to avoid reprinting fees, it is strongly recommended that families keep a backup of all Academic
Reports.
NEWSLETTER ADVERTISMENTS
If you wish to place an advertisement to sell your child’s uniform, the cost to place an ad in one fortnightly
newsletter is $10. You are required to produce your own advertisement and email it in PDF form only
to the school no later than 3pm on the Thursday prior to the newsletter publication. Payment is required
before publication.
College Charges 2015 – Additional Payment Mode via Compass
The College will be mailing home shortly to all families information regarding payment of College Charges
for 2015.
For 2015 the College has introduced a further option of paying via the Highvale Compass Portal.
To pay via this method use your parent login and password to access the portal. (Your Account log on and
password will be included on your mailed statement of college charges form). On the right hand side under
my news you will need to click on Course/Confirmation Payment link. From here you will be able to
process your payment. There is an option of paying your charges in full or in two instalments. If you elect
the two instalment method your credit card will be debited for first instalment at the original time of payment
and then automatically debited for the second instalment on the 5th February 2014.
If you process your payment online you do not need to return the Statement of Charges Form.
Payment Direct to College
Please note that you still have the option of returning payment and form to the College Office.
Payment mode accepted at the office is cash, cheque, credit card and EFTPOS.
Online BPAY payment is also available. For BPAY payments your statement of charges form will include
the College’s Biller Code as well as your family reference number. Please retain this information for future
payments.
For all payments to the College General Office including BPAY please ensure you return your Statement of
College Charges Form so that your fee payment can be allocated correctly. Alternatively at time of
payment you may email this information to the College - highvale.sc@edumail.vic.gov.au.
